Mid Range
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the most enchanting experience, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch them at close range as these majestic apes feed, play and relax. Misty Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to more than half the population of the remaining 720 mountain gorillas. It also offers a unique birding opportunity, cultural experience and scenic allure with stunning hills and lush vegetation inhabited by the elusive primates. Afterwards enjoy some time at beautiful Lake Bunyonyi before heading to Queen Elizabeth National Park for fantastic game viewing and chimp tracking in Kalinzu Forest Reserve.
From USD 2,200 per person
After breakfast set off for an 8-9 hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in the south western part of the country. You will have a stopover at the Equator where you will have an opportunity to stand in 2 hemispheres at the same time and take some photos. You will make another stopover for lunch en-route before continuing with your journey to Bwindi arriving in the evening.
Dinner and overnight: Broadbill Forest Camp
You will have an early morning breakfast then transfer to the park headquarters to join other trackers in a briefing about the gorilla trekking rules at 7:45 am. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the gorillas, which can take you between one and eight hours. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access by tourists. You will have one hour to stay with the gorillas once they are sighted.
Afterwards transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, driving through a beautiful part of the country often referred to as ‘the Switzerland of Africa’ because of its unique cool weather despite being near the Equator. Lake Bunyonyi is said to be one of the most beautiful places in western Uganda. It is the second deepest lake in Africa [900 meters deep] and one of the few places in the country where it is considered safe to swim as it is bilharzia free.
Dinner and overnight: Bunyonyi Birdnest Lodge
Wake up early in the morning for breakfast, set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park through the volcanic formations of the western Rift Valley. The descent reveals a stunning panorama of Lakes George and Edward amidst game-filled plains where you will go for an evening game drive.
Dinner and overnight: Bush Lodge
Wake-up early in the morning for breakfast then a game drive for 3-4 hours. Look out for many animals such as lion, leopard, giant forest hog, buffalo, elephant, deffasa, water buck, topi, Uganda kob and bush buck. Return to your hotel for lunch and a relax before a unique boat cruise in the afternoon which takes 2 hours on the Kazinga Channel and onto Lake Edward. The trip passes through possibly the highest hippo concentration in Africa, many mammals may be seen drinking water and the birdlife is colorful and abundant. The cruise offers an excellent platform for photography and game viewing.
Dinner and overnight: Bush Lodge
Wake-up early morning for breakfast then head to Kalinzu Forest Reserve for an up to four hour chimpanzee trek with a tracker and guide. The Forest Reserve is home to 6 groups of chimps, comprising over 300 individuals and tracking currently enjoys more than 80% success rate. Please bring suitable closed walking boots and long trousers. Afterwards transfer back to Entebbe Airport with lunch en-route to catch your evening departure flight back home.
