This safari takes you to both Rwanda and Uganda. Trek gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to almost half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas in the world, then go to beautiful Lake Bunyonyi, which is dotted with numerous islands, for relaxation and where you embark on a canoe cruise. Afterwards head back to Kigali to end the tour.

Day by Day Overview

Today our representative from Safari Vacations and Travel Services will pick you up from the airport or hotel. After warmly greeting you, he’ll then drive you to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center while briefing you about the whole tour. The memorial was set up to teach different generations about the anti-human incident that befell the people of Rwanda in 1994. You will then embark on a 4-hour journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey will take you through the scenic landscapes of Rwanda, and the beauty of the landscapes will explain why Rwanda is termed the “Land of a Thousand Hills”. Arrive in Bwindi in the evening and check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Wake up early for breakfast, then carry your packed lunch and head to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking. You’ll then follow the ranger guides to the forest in search of the endangered mountain gorillas. The time it takes to find them ranges from 2-6 hours, depending on factors prevailing in the forest. After finding them, you’ll spend an hour in their presence, which you can use to monitor their behavior, take photos and record videos. Afterwards you’ll have your packed lunch and head back to the lodge for your drive to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation. The beauty of the lake due to the many islands dotting it will fascinate you. Check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Overland

Wake up for breakfast and go for a canoe cruise, which allows you to explore the islands on the lake, including Punishment Island, where girls who got pregnant before marriage were thrown to starve to death. After the canoe cruise, you’ll head back to the lodge, pack your bags, and transfer back to Kigali. You’ll have lunch en route, arriving in Kigali for drop off at the hotel or airport depending on your preference. This will mark the end of the 3-day Uganda Gorilla safari from Kigali.
