From USD 18,000 per person
On arrival in Uganda, you will be picked up by our Kubwa Five Safaris representative and transferred to Murchison Falls National Park (4 hour drive). On your way to Murchison Falls National Park, you will branch off to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking; this is one of the best activities in Uganda. After the rhino tracking, you will be driven to Murchison Falls National Park (3 and 1/2 hour drive) where your first attraction in the park will be the top of the falls. It is an exciting experience that brings you very close to the rushing whitewater. The resulting mist from the turbulence often produces rainbows. Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest protected area, is home to more than 73 animal species, including buffalo, leopard, lion, and elephant, 3/4 of the world’s population of Rothschild giraffe plus a healthy population of herbivores. In addition 451 bird species and including 23 Albertine rift endemics.
The mighty River Nile flows through the park creating a powerful phenomenon at the Kabalega Falls. Enjoy the views of these magnificent falls where the Nile forces its way through a gorge in the rocks and tumbles 43m below flowing westwards into Lake Albert. Did you know that Murchison Falls are the most powerful waterfalls in the world?
You will set off very early in the morning at 6 am for a morning game drive, bird watching and sightseeing across the open savannah, dotted woodland and riverine vegetation along the Nile and Albert delta. After the game drive, you will head back to your hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, (between 2pm and 4pm), you embark on a three hour boat cruise on the Nile, which offers an amazing view of the falls from the bottom angle. Hippo, crocodile, antelope, and aquatic birds can be seen along the shores of the river. In the evening, you will head back to the lodge for an evening game drive.
After breakfast, you will travel from Murchison Falls National Park, driving southwest through the Albertine Escarpment of the Great Western Rift Valley. Drive through Hoima, then Kyejonjo district and reach the colourful and beautiful town of Fort Portal, the capital of the Tooro kingdom, situated in the shadow of the fabled “Mountains of the Moon,” the Rwenzori. You will have lunch on the way. The drive takes 6 and 1/2 hours.
On arrival in Kibale National Park, drive to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a community walk and cultural interaction. It is a fascinating area, located in Magombe swamp. This area is recognised for an extensive array of biodiversity among which are several primates species like the red colobus monkey, baboon, black and white colobus monkey, blue monkey grey cheeked, mangabey, vervet monkey, red tailed monkey and the L’Hoest monkey. Also additional mammals such as sitatunga, mongoose, bush pig, otter plus bush buck. Kibale National Park is a haven for the largest concentration of chimpanzee. Uganda has the highest number of chimpanzee in the world – about 4,950 – with Kibale National Park being home to about 1,500.
Chimpanzee tracking will start early and takes about 2 to 3 hours, depending on the location of the chimpanzees. After the trek you will go back to the resort for lunch.
After breakfast, visit the Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru Caves and the three surrounding explosion Crater Lakes. This makes it a most interesting day and can be done while staying in Fort Portal. A side-trip to the Amabere Caves and the three nearby Crater Lakes will be learning about the local culture and legends, plus a hike around three crater lakes. After visiting Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru Caves, you will go to Queen Elizabeth National Park with lunch on the way. This is a huge park where wildlife and people coexist in harmony. On arrival in Queen Elizabeth National Park you will enjoy a boat cruise on Kazinga channel which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. Some of the best wildlife viewing can be done on a boat cruise here, passing squacco heron, pied kingfisher, large numbers of buffalo and hippo, basking crocodile and many different bird species and large mammals. This is one of the most memorable experiences in the park. Over 300 hippo are found in the lake too.
After the boat ride, you will go for an evening game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park for the chance to spot lion hunting in the evening, when the temperatures are cooler. We also expect to see the Uganda kob, elephant, buffalo, warthog, leopard and waterbuck. Queen Elizabeth National Park is the largest biotic area in Africa. It is a habitat for a variety of flora and fauna, hippo, tree-climbing lion, elephant, swamp antelope, Uganda-kob, topi, water buck, bush buck, reed buck, duiker and many other animal species. It is home to over 95 species of mammal and over 600 species of bird. The park is also Uganda’s most popular tourist destination.
After an early morning breakfast, you will take a 3 hour drive to the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The Ishasha sector is known for its tree climbing lion on the Kasenyi plains. They are one of the highlights of a safari in the park. Lion are now and again spotted hanging on branches of huge fig trees whereas the Uganda Kob (which are the major food to these lion) graze in the plains of the Ishasha sector. After a game drive in Ishasha it is time to move to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home of the famous mountain gorilla (4 and 1/2 hour drive). Check in at your lodge for lunch and prepare for yet another highlight of this amazing trip: tracking mountain gorilla.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to over 346 bird species, 120 mammal species, 400 plant species, 27 frog species among others and covers an area of 331 sq km. After arrival, we will embark on a community walk where you will visit the Batwa tribe, which is an indigenous group of people that has lived in the forest for 500,000 years. Enjoy traditional dances and drama from them. Did you know that Uganda has the highest percentage of mountain gorilla in the world? There are currently less than 1,200 mountain gorillas left in the world and almost half of the population resides in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Gorilla trekking is one of the top activities while on safari here.
After breakfast, head out to the park head offices with your guide, have a briefing about the do’s and don’ts of being with gorilla, then head out for trekking through the misty rainforest. Trekking can take from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gentle giants. Make sure you carry enough water, non-flash cameras, wear sturdy shoes and rain jackets. At the end of this long and exciting adventure, return to our lodge for a well-deserved shower, and lunch. Check out in the evening for a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi (2 hours), which is a twisting water body dotted with 29 islands of various shapes and size scattered across the water – an amazing sight.
After breakfast, you will relax at your hotel until lunch time. Lake Bunyonyi is framed by lush, green-terraced hills that reach a height of 2,200 – 2,478m. It is probably the second deepest lake in Africa and one of the few African lakes completely safe for swimming – there is no bilharzia. After lunch, you will head out for zip lining over the lake.
After your breakfast, you will be driven to Kampala. You will have a stopover at the Equator for lunch in Masaka and see where this imaginary line divides our planet into two equal hemispheres. Snacks, souvenirs and photographs may be taken here. Lake Bunyonyi to Equator is a 5 hour drive and from Equator to Kampala is a 2 and 1/2 hour drive.
Depart for Jinja at 6 am with a packed breakfast. You will go through Mabira forest, a rainforest area covering about 300 square kilometres. It is home to many endangered species like the primate Lophocebus Uganda. Drive from Kampala to Jinja is a 2 hour drive. On arrival in Jinja, you will go white water rafting on the rapids, an adventure and unforgettable experience. The Nile finds its source in Jinja where it starts the 4,000 km through different African countries. After white water rafting, you will check in at your hotel for lunch. Afterwards rest at the lodge and enjoy the swimming pool.
Today you will relax at the lodge and enjoy the following optional activities (which need to be paid for separately):-
After breakfast, you will be driven to Kampala. You will have lunch in one of the restaurants in Kampala then be transferred to Entebbe Airport (4 hours) for your flight to Kenya. Upon arrival at 9 pm at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be welcomed by our Kubwa Five Safaris representative and transferred to your hotel in Nairobi.
After an early breakfast, check out and leave for Lake Naivasha National Park (1 hour 45 minute drive). On arrival in the park, you will check in at your hotel, then head out for an evening boat ride. Lake Naivasha National Park is arguably one of the main attractions in Kenya and a gateway to a variety of wildlife. Taking a boat excursion with your family will give you spectacular views of flamingo, hippo and fish eagle.
After breakfast, you will take a 45 minute drive to Hell’s Gate National Park for bike riding for about 2 hours. Later you will be driven to Lake Nakuru National Park (2 hours 15 minutes), arriving at your hotel in the afternoon. After lunch, you will head out for an evening game drive. Lake Nakuru National Park’s claim to fame is its flamingo and over 400 species of birds found here. The lake itself is a soda lake on the floor of the rift valley. The sight of the at times millions of flamingos is quite spectacular. From a distance the lake appears ringed in pink. The park has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species, particularly the Rothschild giraffe and the black and white rhino. Lion, waterbuck, buffalo and baboon are all resident here.
After breakfast, depart for an early morning game drive then head out to Masai Mara National Reserve (a 4 hour 35 minute drive). You will pass through the floor of the rift valley arriving in the evening. The Masai Mara Game Reserve offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe over 450 species of animals has been recorded here. You will experience some game drives during this safari and you will also have time to enjoy the scenic view of the Great Rift Valley.
After breakfast spend half a day in the park with packed lunch in search of its well-known predators and their opponents like zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, lion, cheetah, elephant, buffalo and other animal species. It is in the Masai Mara Game Reserve that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, in search of water and pasture. In the afternoon, visit the local Masai village for a cultural tour. Learn about the Masai community and interact with the local Masai people. An overnight stay at the Masai village can be organised upon request.
Optional activity: An early morning balloon safari at USD 485 per person can be organised today then proceed with the normal program.
After an early breakfast drive to Isebania, Kenya/Tanzania border, with packed lunches. Meet Tanzania driver/guide and change safari car. Go through immigration formalities and drive to Serengeti National Park with your packed lunches (5 hours 35 minute drive).
You will have a full day in this wonderful park, rising early to make the most of your time. Our guides will choose the best spotting locations for the time of year; we can spend time at the Hippo Pool watching these majestic animals laze about in the cool water happily living alongside crocodile and you might also spot a pride of lion.
The Serengeti National Park, meaning “endless plains” in the Masai language, is undoubtedly one of the world’s most celebrated wilderness areas and is an ongoing source of inspiration to writers, filmmakers and photographers. It is Tanzania’s oldest national park, renowned for the part it plays in the annual Great Migration, when an estimated three million antelope – mostly wildebeest – migrate to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve. This epic, seasonal journey is a deeply moving experience and a wonderful photographic sight. Here visitors to the park can roam its sprawling plains on exhilarating game drives or hop into a hot-air balloon ride for an once-in-a-lifetime wilderness adventure.
Optional activity: An early morning balloon safari at USD 600 per person
After an early breakfast head out on a game drive to the Ngorongoro Crater with packed lunches (1 hour 50 minute drive). You will go through the Ngorongoro Crater Highlands to the base of the Rift Valley Escarpment; a dramatic bluff nearly 2,000 ft high. You will have an evening game drive. Here lies a narrow belt of acacia woodland and a floodplain that is filled seasonally by Lake Manyara. Encompassing this area is Lake Manyara National Park which is often overlooked, but game-rich and best known for its tree-climbing lion. The park is inhabited by over 380 types of bird and many animal species including elephant, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, leopard, lion, baboon, hippo, antelope, warthog and many others. Ngorongoro to Lake Manyara is 2 hour drive.
After breakfast, you will be driven to Arusha town for shopping, have lunch in town, then drive to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your scheduled flight back home.
