Day by Day Overview

Your guide will pick you up from the airport before heading towards Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola. Once you arrive you can except an amazing rhino tracking experience, offering an opportunity to see the rhinos up-close while on foot.  The sanctuary has helped claw back the rhino population in Uganda after excessive poaching. Later continue to Murchison Falls National Park for the evening and a hearty dinner.
Rise early for a morning game drive in the park that is home to a section of the Nile River. Explore the northern parts of the reserve with its higher density of wildlife, offering a better chance of seeing the elusive predators. All of the big five except for rhino inhabit the park, giving you the opportunity to see them all after having seen rhino at the sanctuary. Head back to the lodge for breakfast and some relaxing. After lunch you will set out for a leisurely boat cruise, making your way upstream to the base of the Murchison Falls. The boat ride offers a variety of interesting sightings, including those of crocodiles and hippos. Disembark for a short hike to the top of the falls for some amazing views before heading back to the lodge for the evening.

Enjoy some breakfast before driving through the beautiful countryside to Fort Portal that rests in the shadows of the Ruwenzori Mountains. After lunch you will go for a guided walk through the crater lakes area of Kibale National Park. Visit the ‘Top of the World’ for a sun-downer and stunning views of the surrounding mountain range and the park below. Drive to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

You will have an early breakfast before driving to the park headquarters for a briefing and then set off for your chimpanzee trek. A guided hike through the forest as you learn about all the animals and plants from the guides will also allow you to see a host of other primates including the grey-cheeked mangabeys and colobus monkeys. Discover the chimps and observe these amazing creatures for up to an hour before heading back to camp. Have a short rest before a bush walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Return to camp for a relaxed evening and delicious dinner.

Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with an en-route game drive in Ishasha to search for the tree-climbing lions. When you arrive at the park in the evening, you can go on a short walking safari in the forest or a community visit to meet the locals that live in the park. After you will head to your camp for the evening and dinner.

Another early breakfast before a park briefing and the start of your main event, the gorilla trek. You will set off into the rain forest with a packed lunch as you make your way through the dense jungle. Trekking time will vary depending on the weather and where the gorillas were last seen but you can expect a difficult climb. You will be rewarded with one of the most privileged wildlife experiences on earth when you find the great apes. Sit with them for up to an hour and observe how gentle they are despite their massive size. Later head back to camp and depending on the time, you can enjoy the alternative activity that you did not take part in yesterday. In the evening you can enjoy a well deserved dinner.
In the morning you will have your final breakfast in the bush before making your way back to Entebbe or Kampala. Reflect on your time with the chimps and gorillas as your adventure draws to a close. Your guide will drop you off at the airport or a hotel.
