Experience the thrill of tracking mountain gorillas and golden monkeys as well as a visit to Dian Fossey's grave in Volcanoes National Park, located in the Virunga Mountains. The first national park created in Africa in 1925, Volcanoes National Park has shared boundaries with Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda. The highest point of this national park is Mount Karisimbi and the park contains five volcanoes: Karismbi, Bisoke, Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura. Volcanoes National Park is home of mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, Bisoke Crater Lake and the grave of scientist and primatologist Dian Fossey.

On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your accommodation for an overnight stay.
After having breakfast, enjoy a Kigali city tour and explore the first green city in Africa, take in some cultural and historical sites including the Genocide Museum and Genocide memorial. In the afternoon, travel to Musanze (ex. Ruhengeri) at the base of the Virunga Mountains and the staging post for Volcanoes National Park. Overnight stay in Musanze.
After breakfast, travel to Rwanda Development Board headquarters (R.D.B) for a briefing about trekking the endangered mountain gorillas (gorilla berengei berengei) which was started in 1902 by Captain Von Berengei. Today Volcanoes National Park is home to around 1,008 of the world’s mountain gorillas. Experience the incredible adventure of searching for and seeing mountain gorillas in the wild. In the afternoon, take a village walk activity around Volcanoes National Park and see the daily life of the local community as they cook and cultivate.

After breakfast, travel to Rwanda Development Board headquarters (R.D.B) for a briefing about the endangered golden monkey visit before setting off to find the golden monkeys. Enjoy spending time with them when you find them. In the afternoon, travel to Nyabingi to experience Rwanda’s precolonial prophet.

After breakfast, travel to Rwanda Development Board headquarters (R.D.B) for a briefing about the visit to Dian Fossey’s grave. In the afternoon, travel back to Kigali for your onward flight.
