Day by Day Overview
We will depart from Moshi in the morning and travel to the Tarangire National Park where you can marvel at the colossal termite mounds and the ancient baobab trees. The picturesque scenery and diverse birdlife assist in creating the tranquil ambiance of the Tarangire National Park. The great elephant population is an extremely remarkable sight. African elephants are the largest land mammal and adult males can weigh as much as seven tonnes. Tarangire’s varied wildlife includes lions, giraffes, warthogs, ostriches, impalas, cheetah, mongoose, buffaloes and baboons. When your game drive comes to an end we will take you to the Even Nature Tented Campsite.
An appetising breakfast will be served at the camp followed by a drive to the Serengeti National Park. We will take the scenic route to the Serengeti which allows us to travel near the Ngorongoro Crater with the possibility of spotting game. The endless golden savannah with splotches of colour created by the vegetation and wildlife make it easy to understand why the Serengeti is one of the seven natural wonders of Africa. We will stop so that you can enjoy your picnic lunch on a kopje (a small hill in a generally flat area) then proceed further into the Serengeti for a leisurely game drive. You will spend the night at the Soronera/Nyani Camp inside the park.
We will begin the day in the central Serengeti where we will have lunch and view game. The wildlife in the Serengeti is extremely diverse and there are regular sightings of lions, leopards, elephants, cheetahs, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, elands, wild dogs, gazelles, crocodiles, giraffe, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos and antelopes. There are a few factors that will affect the game you spot such as the migration of the herds and the season. The various bird species consists of a few migrants from the Eurasia region. We will drive to the campsite which is located near the rim of the crater and a delectable dinner will be served. You will spend the night at the Simba Camp, comprehensive camping facilities are on offer.
We will depart for the Ngorongoro Crater early in the morning as it is a wonderful time to spot game. We will go on a game drive with a picnic lunch inside the crater. The majority of the animals tend to reside within the crater due to its elevated structure. There is a high possibility of spotting every member of the Big Five which comprises some of the strongest animals in Africa – the ferocious lion, the giant elephant, the swift leopard, the tough rhino and the charging buffalo. The crater was formed millions of years ago when a large volcano erupted. You can expect to encounter zebra, hippo, wildebeest and cackling hyenas here. There are graceful flamingos along the Soda Lake and vultures are constantly circling the sky in search of discarded carcases. Storks and geese are popular water birds in the crater. Our game drive will conclude shortly after dinner. Our driver will transport you to Arusha/Moshi. Transportation to the airport can be arranged on request.
