On arrival at Kigali airport your will be met by your safari guide who will drive you straight to the Uganda/Rwanda border of Cyanika/Katuna. En route traverse the lush country side dotted with undulating hills that have qualified Rwanda as a ‘land of a thousand hills’. Arrive in Bwindi in the afternoon and check in to your lodge. Later go for nature walk around the forest,
You will have an early breakfast and then be driven to the Park Headquarters for a briefing about what to do and what not to do while on the gorilla trek. After the briefing, you will set out trekking in very thick vegetation. Trekking gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is quite challenging as it involves moving over rugged terrain of steep slopes and valleys. The jungle is very lively with rich forest sounds. The trek ranges between two and eight hours and you have one hour to stay with the gorillas once they are sighted. Afterwards you hike back and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, said to be one of the most beautiful places in western Uganda. It is the second deepest lake in Africa [900 meters deep] and one of the few places in the country where it is considered safe to swim as it is bilharzia free.
Dinner and overnight will be at Bunyonyi View (Budget), Bunyonyi Safari Resort (Mid-range)
In the morning after breakfast you will take a boat or canoe on Lake Bunyonyi. Later head to the border, cross over to Rwanda and drive to Kigali to catch your evening departure flight.
