Day by Day Overview

Your ultimate safari begins with a professional morning pick-up by your expert Stan Safari driver guide and private 4×4 safari vehicle from your accommodation or airport (Arusha/JRO), immediately commencing the drive to Tarangire National Park where it will take you the 2 to 3 hours road transfer to arrive to the entrance gate, globally celebrated as the “Elephant Stronghold” of Tanzania.

Upon arrival, your full-day game drive instantly plunges you into a landscape dominated by majestic baobab trees and massive herds of elephants congregating near the permanent Tarangire River with the large number and varieties of the wild animals from buffaloes, giraffe, lions, leopards, impalas, gazelles, hyenas, baboons, warthogs, ostriches, wildebeest and many others. The afternoon drive is focused on these pivotal watering points, offering prime, competitive chances to witness dramatic predator-prey action involving lions, cheetahs, and leopards. You will enjoy a delicious picnic lunch inside the park, fully maximizing your time in the bush.

In the late evening, you will exit the park and drive to Karatu in the Ngorongoro Highlands, where you will enjoy a delightful dinner and a restful overnight stay at a quality mid-range lodge such as Marera Valley Lodge (or equivalent).

After a delicious breakfast, you will depart for a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, a gem nestled beneath the Great Rift Valley escarpment. This drive is unique, focusing on the dense groundwater forests known for their large troops of baboons, prolific birdlife, and the chance to spot the legendary tree-climbing lions.

Following a picturesque lunch, your adventure takes a wild turn as you drive north through the dramatic scenery of the Rift Valley towards Lake Natron. The journey itself is an experience, passing through traditional Maasai lands with breathtaking views of volcanic mountains. You will arrive at Maasai Giraffe Eco-Lodge the mid-range accommodation near the lake in the late afternoon, enjoying a warm dinner and overnight stay in the shadow of the mighty Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano.

Your unique and adventurous day begins with a satisfying breakfast at the Maasai Giraffe Eco Lodge, perfectly preparing you for a day of geographical and cultural immersion in the heart of the Rift Valley. You will immediately set out for a guided exploration near the base of the sacred Ol Doinyo Lengai (Mountain of God) volcano, allowing you to appreciate the dramatic, red-hued geology and vastness of the landscape surrounding this active mountain.

In the late morning, you will engage in a unique cultural visit to a nearby authentic Maasai village (Boma), where you can receive a traditional welcome, learn about their pastoralist way of life, and gain insight into their spiritual connection with the surrounding environment. Following a lunch break, your adventure culminates in the afternoon with a visit to the stunning Engare Sero Waterfalls (also known as the Ngaresero Gorge), where you can hike through the gorge walls, admire the cascading waters, and enjoy a refreshing dip in the natural pools below, providing a cool contrast to the arid plains.

In the afternoon you will visit the ethereal shores of the Soda Lake (Lake Natron) itself, where you will witness the thousands of Lesser Flamingos gathered in their primary breeding ground, baboons, zebras and the Maasai giraffe. As the evening approaches, you will enjoy the tranquil setting and capture the spectacular African sunset as it bathes the alkaline lake in magnificent golden and orange hues, with the surrounding volcanic peaks providing a dramatic silhouette. Finally, you will return to the comfort of Maasai Giraffe Eco Lodge for a well-deserved, warm dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.

Your morning begins with a satisfying breakfast before you depart for the grand adventure into the Serengeti National Park. The drive from Natron is rugged and incredibly scenic, passing through the remote northern plains and offering immediate on-route game viewing as you approach the park boundaries. You will enter the Serengeti in time for a picnic lunch, after which your afternoon game drive immediately begins in the vast, endless plains.

Your focus today is reaching your strategically located camp in the Central Serengeti (Seronera Valley), providing you with fantastic opportunities to spot the first signs of big cats and plains game. You will check in at your exclusive mid-range tented camp, Tanzania Bush Camp or equivalent for dinner and your first immersive overnight stay in the heart of the world’s most famous park.

After a delicious breakfast at Tanzania Bush camp, you will set out for an intensive, full-day safari dedicated entirely to the legendary Serengeti. Your expert guide will utilize their deep knowledge to locate active wildlife, concentrating on prime areas for tracking lions, cheetahs, and leopards to ensure maximum opportunity for dramatic predator-prey encounters.

If your journey aligns with the season, a substantial part of the day will be dedicated to witnessing the awe-inspiring spectacle of the Great Wildebeest Migration, truly one of nature’s grandest shows. You will enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch break in the bush, maximizing time in the field before the afternoon drive continues until the final, breathtaking moments of the golden hour. You will return to Tanzania Bush Camp for a delectable dinner under the stars and a second overnight stay.

Your highly anticipated day begins with an early breakfast before you descend 2,000 feet into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will spend the morning on an extensive game drive across the crater floor, which offers the absolute highest probability of sighting the Big Five including the critically endangered black rhino alongside vast herds of wildebeest, zebras, and colorful flamingos.

After a scenic picnic lunch inside this natural wonder, you will ascend the crater rim in the afternoon and begin your unique journey towards Lake Eyasi. You will check in at your beautiful mid-range lakeside accommodation, Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge (or equivalent), enjoying a tranquil dinner and overnight stay, preparing for tomorrow’s profound cultural encounter.

Your final day is dedicated to a truly unique and powerful cultural experience, starting with a very early pre-dawn departure from the lodge to meet the Hadzabe bushmen (the last remaining genuine hunter-gatherer tribe). You will join them on their daily traditional hunt using bows and arrows, offering a raw, authentic glimpse into a survival lifestyle largely unchanged for millennia.

You will also visit the neighboring Datoga tribe, renowned pastoralists and skilled blacksmiths, observing their ancient metalworking craft. After returning for a final lunch break at the lodge, you will begin the scenic afternoon transfer back to your residence in Arusha or directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), marking the conclusion of your comprehensive and unforgettable Tanzanian safari expedition.
