Day by Day Overview
You will be picked up from Arusha or Moshi and make your way to the beautiful Lake Manyara National Park. Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge you will be staying at, take some time to freshen up and then make your way into the reserve for your first game viewing experience. Explore the beautiful park, dominated by the huge soda lake that sits at the foot of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. The park is home to a huge elephant population, the famous tree-climbing lions and thousands of flamingos, all of which you will be able to see before making your way back to your lodge for some dinner.
After breakfast you will head to the renowned Serengeti National Park. You will make your way via Karatu, a beautiful, high-lying farmland situated in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will then descend into the Serengeti, the most visited safari destination on earth. You will head into the Seronera area in the central Serengeti, a region known for its abundance of animal and bird life and home to the Seronera River, which attracts many animals to its banks for the precious water it provides. Enjoy a delicious lunch at your camp before heading out for an afternoon game drive in this magnificent park.
Today you will have a full day in the Serengeti, allowing you to explore the vast grassland plains that stretch beyond the horizon. You will have the opportunity to witness the reserve from above in a hot air balloon, giving you a unique game viewing experience in the early hours of the morning if you choose. A truly amazing and inspiring event that is a must for anyone who visits. Later there will be some breakfast before heading out for a game drive along the Sogore River. Explore the area filled with stunning acacia trees and many animals. After lunch you will head for the Serengeti Koptjies that stick out of the surrounding lowlands. The Koptjies often attract the big cats as they provide a good vantage point from which to spot their prey. After a full day of discovery, head back to camp for a delicious and well deserved dinner.
After breakfast, you will depart for the Ngorongoro conservation area with a short stop at Olduvai Gorge en-route. At the gorge you will be able to learn about some of the earliest human remains that were discovered in the area, helping fill in some of the missing gaps in the human evolutionary story. Later you will make your way to your lodge where you will be able to enjoy some lunch and spend the rest of your day at leisure.
Today, after some breakfast, you will get to experience the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, the worlds largest, unbroken volcanic caldera. Descend 600m down the steep rim walls into the pristine wildlife haven below for an amazing, full day of exploring. The reserve is known for its abundance of animal and bird species, boasting huge populations of all creatures big and small. It is also one of the only places in Tanzania where you are able to see the black rhino. Stop for a picnic lunch during the heat of day before continuing your search for the animals you have come to see. Later you will make your way back to your lodge for some dinner and a good rest.
After breakfast you will depart for the Tarangire National Park, a reserve that is home to the Tarangire River in the Great Rift Valley. Explore this picturesque landscape dotted by acacia trees and massive baobab trees. The year-round water supply attracts large herds of animals including elephant which are in abundance in the park. You can expect to see other magnificent creatures like the fringe-eared oryx and the greater kudu. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park before an afternoon game drive and then making your way to your camp for the evening.
Today you will have some breakfast before leaving the lodge and enjoying your final en-route morning game drive on your way back to Arusha or Moshi. You will be taken to your hotel or the airport, depending on your travel arrangements. Bid farewell to your guide, marking the end of your Tanzanian safari.
