Explore two of the country's World Heritage Sites, the mysterious Great Zimbabwe Ruins and the Matopos Hills with its balancing rocks. You will visit Matobo National Park, the country's oldest national park, the 2 billion year old wooded valleys, ancient bushman cave paintings and get the chance to see some spectacular wildlife sightings. Today you will explore the Matopos hills and take part in some rhino tracking in the Matobo National Park. You will be picked up from your hotel in Bulawayo and taken to the reserve where you will get the chance to visit the Rhodes grave and some bushman caves to learn about their ancient paintings. You will see World’s View and marvel at the famous balancing rocks. Later you will head out with one of the rangers for the opportunity to track down some rhinos on foot. You will get to see many of the animals that inhabit the park and explore its stunning landscapes. Enjoy a picnic lunch while overlooking the reserve from one of the vantage points and later you will head back to Bulawayo for the evening.
Today you will depart Bulawayo early in the morning to make your way to the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, arriving around mid-morning. You will be guided around the spectacular historical site, visiting the Hill Complex, the Great Enclosure, the Shona village and the Site Museum as you learn about the ancient culture that built this site and all the mysteries that surround it. Enjoy the stories and legends of “Dzimbadzemabwe”, meaning the house of stones before enjoying a picnic lunch at the site. Later you will visit the local art and craft market before driving back to Bulawayo.
