Check in at Buffalo Rock Tented Camp
Buffalo Rock Safari Camp is perfectly located in a private and secluded part of the Nkambeni Private Concession, within the borders of the world-renowned Kruger National Park. Offering visitors the opportunity to commune with nature in a pristine and unspoilt wildlife-rich wilderness, Buffalo Rock Safari Camp is completely unfenced and regularly welcomes roaming wildlife, including members of the Big Five. Although the Camp is called Buffalo Rock, Lion and Leopard are regularly spotted sunning themselves on the rocky outcrop close to the camp. To further enhance your safari experience at Buffalo Rock you will enjoy authentic under-canvas accommodation, reminiscent of the early pioneer days of wildlife safaris in Africa. In order to leave the smallest possible foot-print in this pristine wilderness, Buffalo Rock Safari Camp is purely powered by solar energy, making this camp an ideal choice for eco-warriors. The camp conducts regular daily game drives within the traversing area of the concession as well as inside the unfenced borders of the Kruger National Park. Come and experience the thrill of luxury camping surrounded by nature at its finest, here at Buffalo Rock Safari Camp.
GAME DRIVES
At Buffalo Rock Camp life revolves around the wildlife and your daily game drives will be the highlight of your holiday. Echo Africa offers morning, afternoon or full-day game drives both in the private Nkambeni traversing area and inside the un-fenced boundaries of the Kruger National Park. This is a wonderful way of getting up close to many of the smaller creatures, plants and birds that we often overlook on a game drive. If you are up for a great adventure you can join one of our excellent (armed) guides on foot in the concession. This is a great opportunity to do some bird watching and photography and identify many endemic plant species.

Tsitsikamma National Park Suspension Bridge Hike – Self Guided
The suspension bridge that hangs over the red-brown waters of the Storms River Mouth spans 77 metres and remains one of the most popular tourist attractions of the Tsitsikamma region of the Eastern Cape. Situated within the Tsitsikamma National Park, it was originally built in 1969, but has since been rebuilt by San-Parks to ensure its stability and safety. It hangs just seven metres above the churning waters of the river as it enters the foamy Indian Ocean. The pathway leading to the suspension bridge covers 900 metres of the Tsitsikamma forest. There are plenty of steps to negotiate, but it remains a fairly easy route, particularly if covered slowly. The walk is well worth the magnificent views. Birds accompany walkers along the way and there are a number of lookout point and places to have a seat and rest, while enjoying the vistas of the turquoise ocean. A steep decline takes visitors to the bridge. Adventure sport is increasingly popular in this part of the world and it is not uncommon to see groups of paddlers and divers heading out to explore the rugged terrain and wild waters. Standing on this dramatic piece of engineering, visitors are able to take in the unspoilt beauty around them. There are two smaller suspension bridges that take visitors back to the pathway for their return journey.
***Tsitsikamma National Park entrance fees, hike and conservation levies for own account***
Tsitsikamma National Park
Tsitsikamma National Park is a multi-dimensional destination with dramatic coastal scenery, reefs, rivers, lush forest and delicate Fynbos. A hiking and water sports paradise, this region forms the top section of the magnificent Garden Route National Park. In Tsitsikamma National Park, Garden Route, South Africa visitors will see booming breakers of the Indian Ocean relentlessly pound rocky shores, temperate high forest and Fynbos (indigenous plants) rolling down to the sea in an unspoilt verdant carpet. Age old rivers carve their way to the sea and wonderful marine creatures swim along the shore.
Today you will travel to Port elizabeth for overnight.
Port Elizabeth is a coastal hub in the Eastern Cape where everything is only a 15-minute drive from the airport. It’s one of the largest cities in South Africa, lying 770km east of Cape Town where it forms part of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, which links the city with the inland industrial towns of Uitenhage and Despatch.
Enjoy A coffee milkshake from Something Good
One of the most popular places to eat in Port Elizabeth is Something Good. We highly recommend that you grab a milkshake, park your car facing the beach and just sit there. It’s heaven. There are of course other great spots from which to sit and watch the waves but this particular piece of our shoreline is pure bliss.
Visit artEC
If you love initiatives that are all about giving back to the community, then visit artEC on Bird Street and catch an art exhibition. There are also beautiful colourful murals outside that will make you grab your camera plus a few more picture-worthy street art finds on Bird Street. You can also visit the Athenaeum on Belmont Terrace for art exhibitions and performances in the Little Theatre.
Coastal Fynbos Trail
The Coastal Fynbos Trail, starting east of the village at Sappershoek, offers a 7-kilometer circular route showcasing the diverse fynbos vegetation, especially beautiful during spring’s flowering season. Alternatively, there’s a shorter 4-kilometer option for moderate walkers due to the area’s poor soil quality, lower rainfall, and salty winds.
The Humpback Dolphin Trail
Port Elizabeth boasts a pristine city beachfront, ideal for leisurely walks or jogs. The scenic beachfront spans from Kings Beach to the lollipop beacon, passing by attractions like McArthur Pool, Shark Rock Pier, and more. You can even spot bottlenose dolphins in Algoa Bay, known as the dolphin capital of the world. Beyond the beacon, the Humpback Dolphin Trail offers stunning views of Algoa Bay along the coastline toward Cape Recife.
