From USD 4,960 per person
Individual arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport marks your “Karibu Tanzania” welcome, where your formalities are followed by a personalized greeting from your private certified Stan Safaris Guide, who provides immediate refreshments for the scenic transfer to Arusha, the safari capital.
After the approximate one-hour drive, you will settle into the elegant Gran Meliá Arusha, the most exclusive hotel in the area, enjoying the afternoon at leisure to relax by the gorgeous swimming pool before ascending to the dreamlike roof terrace to savor a cocktail with spectacular views of the 4,566m high Mount Meru, setting a luxurious tone for the adventure ahead, with a gourmet breakfast included the following morning.
Following a delightful breakfast, the journey proceeds through picturesque Maasai country to Tarangire National Park, where your first exhilarating game drives begin in this park celebrated for its abundance of distinctive and impressive African Baobab trees and its critical role in the region’s ecosystem.
The park’s heart is the Tarangire River, which sustains vast concentrations of wildlife, including spectacular herds of elephants, along with zebras, giraffes, various gazelles, and the elusive Lesser Kudu, providing continuous, dramatic interactions between predators and prey.
Lunch is served close to nature within the park, followed by extensive afternoon game drives to search for over 400 bird species and the high population of lions, before heading to the Tarangire Safari Lodge for an overnight stay in a unique location offering spectacular views over the river.
Today’s exploration focuses on Lake Manyara National Park, reached after a scenic drive and a stop in the village of Mto Wa Mbu to taste the unique, sweet “Red Bananas,” showcasing a touch of local culture. Described by Ernest Hemingway as “The most beautiful thing I have ever seen in Africa,” Lake Manyara is famed for its dense vegetation, dramatic location at the foot of a 600m high plateau, and as the home of the fabled tree-climbing lions.
Throughout the dense jungle, swamp, and open savannah, you will encounter water buffalo, elephant, hippo, baboon, and over 400 diverse bird species, including flamingos and pelicans, with an option to visit the hot springs Maji Moto Ndogo or enjoy a panoramic Canopy Walk over the treetops before retiring to the comfortable Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge with its magnificent views over the Rift Valley.
After breakfast, the journey continues toward the next highlight, traversing the 600-meter-high crater rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” where a stop at the viewpoint provides a breathtaking look into the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Brief photo stops are made at the tomb of the famous conservationist, Professor Bernhard Grzimek, before continuing through the scenic Maasai area past the Olduvai Plain (optional visit to the “cradle of mankind”) to enter the boundless plains of the Serengeti National Park.
Game viewing commences immediately on the drive to the lodge, where you will check into the beautiful, Maasai-style Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge, preparing for more days of immersive wildlife observation in the heart of the park, often utilizing packed lunches to maximize time on the game drive routes.
A full day is dedicated to extensive game drives and tracking across the breathtaking, seemingly endless expanse of the Serengeti, characterized by its iconic acacia trees and granite kopjes.
Carrying a picnic lunch, you will spend the entire day leveraging your experienced Stan Safaris guide’s knowledge of the landscape and preferred territories to discover and experience hunting scenes involving leopards, lions, and cheetahs, while observing the numerous herds of blue wildebeest and zebra, alongside eland, Grant’s gazelle, and spotted hyena.
This offers the best chance for close-up encounters with the “Big Five” and the park’s diverse range of over 500 bird species. An incredible and unforgettable optional experience is available today: a sunrise balloon safari (US$599 pp) over the Serengeti, followed by an elegant champagne bush breakfast.
The adventure continues with another day of varied game drives and expert tracking across the Serengeti, whose wildlife movements vary seasonally, guaranteeing new and exciting experiences daily across its diverse corridors. The extensive game drives ensure exposure to the vast range of flora and fauna, including the jackal, serval, and genet.
As the evening hours approach, the focus shifts to the dramatic Hippo Pool, offering spectacular photo opportunities to observe large numbers of hippos and Nile crocodiles when they become most active, before you return to the Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge to enjoy your final Serengeti sunset around an open fire, embracing the wild and romantic moments in the heart of Africa.
The morning begins with a final game drive (approximately 3 hours) on your exit from the Serengeti, complete with a packed lunch, before driving through the stunning Maasai region and into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving at your beautiful and uniquely situated accommodation right on the crater rim.
Nicknamed the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” the Ngorongoro Crater is a 2,300-meter-high caldera offering an impressive sun and shadow-play view from the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge, which is perched spectacularly on the steep crater walls, setting the stage for tomorrow’s descent into this incredible natural sanctuary.
After breakfast, the most spectacular day begins with the descent down the switchbacks over the crater rim to the crater floor, 600 meters below, to spend the entire day on game drive in the 20 km diameter Ngorongoro Crater. This incomparable scenery forms its own unique microcosm, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the “Noah’s Ark” of the world, home to an estimated 30,000 wild animals.
Your focused safari here is dedicated to locating the rare and endangered Black Rhino, visiting the lake area with its numerous flamingos, and observing the dense populations of lions, buffalo, and wildebeest, with a special close-to-nature picnic lunch served right in the crater with a view of the hippos. In the late afternoon, you leave the crater and drive to Karatu to the authentic Pamoja Olea Farm Lodge for your final night in the bush area.
Following a final, warm breakfast, it is time to depart Karatu, driving back toward Arusha, where the exciting experiences of the safari are recounted over a memorable farewell lunch at the popular restaurant “Andrews”, enjoying freshly grilled goat, chicken, or the traditional dish Ugali.
After this authentic local meal, your guide will accompany you to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your onward flight in the afternoon, ensuring a seamless connection and carrying countless unforgettable impressions and stories from your ultimate Tanzanian adventure.
