Thus, gather your belongings, and brace yourself to venture deep into the untamed heart of the Amazonian wilderness, where wonders await at every turn.

Coca – Napo Cultural Center

Arriving at Napo Cultural Center, you will have the outstanding chance to step onto the aboriginal territory of the kichwa Añangu community, with its members welcoming you with a traditional and refreshing ice-cold “wayusa.”

The local hotel manager will give instructions and then take you to your comfortable room with views of the rainforest. Your first activity in the afternoon will be a hike along the “Playas” trail to experience amazon wildlife for the first time in the river islands and shores amidst one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth.
Kayaking is also available as an optional activity for around 45 min where you will enjoy an overwhelming and colorful sunset in the vastness of Napo River. Then head back to your cabin, rest a bit, and be prepared for a well-deserved dinner. After dinner, you will fall asleep to the relaxing sounds of the Amazon.

We start this morning with a visit to the intercultural interpretation center “Kuri Muyu” which means “Gold Seed” in the native language. It is managed by the women of the community also known as “Mamakuna”. There you will learn about the Kichwa culture, crafts, customs, and traditional use of natural resources directly from the people of the native community.

We return to the community center to have lunch and relax for a short time before hiking for an hour to climb the Observation Tower, a climb of 40 m. tall canopy tower; with a high probability of spotting a variety of birds, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, toucans, parrots, and sloths.

After dinner, prepare your flashlight for a night walk around the lodge to see different types of insects, reptiles, and even nocturnal mammals such as night monkeys.

Make the most of a free day on San Cristobal Island. This easternmost island of the Galápagos comprises four fused volcanoes, all extinct, with the town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on the southwestern coast. Nearby is Naufragio (Wreck) Bay—it’s here the English naturalist, Charles Darwin, landed in 1835 and compiled data that he later incorporated into his On the Origin of Species scientific report (1859).

If you want to relax, spend the day on the beach at Playa Carola or Playa Mann. Sunbathe beside friendly sea lions and paddle in the warm ocean. If you’re looking for something more active, arrange an excursion to Pitt Point, where you’ll take a boat to a remote shore and hike on a trail among tough shrubs that manage to survive in this barren volcanic landscape. The reward is the magnificent viewpoints overlooking the beach.
