Tour Overview
The 6 Days Marangu Route, which is also known as the ‘Coca Cola route’ is the least expensive route to the summit. This is also the only route with the comfort of sleeping huts at every camp site with solar lights and comfortable beds. The huts are communal, and the bunks have a sponge mattress and pillow. There are 60 beds at both Mandara and Kibo Huts and 120 beds at Horombo Hut. Bathrooms and running water are available at the two lower huts. Mens’ and ladies’ latrines are available at the last camp but are very basic. All climbing groups, often from several countries around the world, share meals in dining huts providing a jovial and energetic atmosphere. This route is usually done in 5 days (shortest route to the summit) but can be done in 6 days for better acclimatization. The extra day can be spent resting at Horombo or climbing the small peak of Mawenzi. Kili 5 Zone Adventures welcomes you to Tanzania.

Day by Day Overview
After registration at Marangu Gate, start trekking through the lush rainforest. You may see blue monkeys and colobus monkeys. Arrive at Mandara Hut for dinner and overnight.

Leave the forest behind and enter moorland zone with great views of Mawenzi Peak. Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.

- Hiking Time: 6–7 hours
- Habitat: Moorland
Gradual trek across the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Arrive at Kibo Hut, rest early and prepare for summit.
- Elevation: 3,720m → 4,700m
- Distance: 10 km
- Hiking Time: 6–8 hours
- Habitat: Alpine desert
Midnight summit attempt to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating and taking photos, descend to Horombo Hut for overnight.
- Elevation: 4,700m → 5,895m → 3,720m
- Distance: 6 km ascent / 16 km descent
- Hiking Time: 10–14 hours
Descend through moorland back to the forest zone. Overnight at Mandara Hut.
- Elevation: 3,720m → 2,700m
- Distance: 12 km
- Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Final descent through rainforest to Marangu Gate. Receive your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi/Arusha.
