Tour Overview
This 6 day Kilimanjaro climb follows the classic Marangu Route Kilimanjaro trekkers have been using for decades, offering a direct and well-established path to the summit of Africa’s highest mountain. Known as the “Coca-Cola Route”, Marangu is the only Kilimanjaro route with hut accommodation, with overnight stays in Mandara, Horombo and Kibo Huts rather than tents, making it an appealing choice for climbers who prefer extra comfort and shelter on the mountain.

The 6 day Marangu Route itinerary includes an important acclimatisation day at Horombo Hut, giving you a better chance of reaching Uhuru Peak than the shorter 5-day version. Along the way, the route passes through rainforest, heath and moorland, alpine desert and the high volcanic slopes below the summit, delivering a full Kilimanjaro experience with dramatic changes in scenery as you climb.
While Marangu is often described as one of the more straightforward routes on Kilimanjaro because of its gentle gradient and clear trail, it should not be underestimated. The ascent and descent follow the same path, so it is less scenic than routes such as Machame or Lemosho, and its shorter profile means acclimatisation can still be challenging. For trekkers who value classic mountain huts, a proven route and a traditional Kilimanjaro climb, however, the Marangu Route Kilimanjaro remains one of the mountain’s most enduring choices.
