Tour Overview
This safari tour will take you through the African Great Rift Valley. Awash National Park – which covers the largest afro alpine habitat in the whole of Africa. It is an area of high altitude plateau that is fragmented by the numerous remarkable volcanic plugs and peaks, beautiful alpine lakes and mountain streams that run down in the deep rocky and gorges on their way to the lowlands. It is heaven for various endemic mammals including Ethiopian wolf, Mountain nyala, Bale monkey and many more species.

Awash National Park
Awash National Park will take us through the volcanic mountains and valleys, and witness the lava on both sides of the road as freshly turned earth. We will stop at the beautiful Beseka Lake which is rich in birdlife. Here, you can see the pink-winged pelican, African fish eagle, saddle-billed stork, and many more birds. This is also the place where you can see the nomadic Kereyu tribe, bringing in large herds of camels for water.
IMPORTANT
In case of booking cancellation the next policy applies: Tourists will receive a full amount they paid for the reservation in case they cancel more than 30 days in advance of the tour start date. In the event of cancellation within the period of 26 to 16 days before the tour start date, they are entitled to receive 50% of the booking amount. Cancelations made within 15 days before the tour starts will not be entitled to a refund. We organize camping and one night hotels, and also organize luxury tours depending on our customers’ interests, but most of time we book camping sites.

Day by Day Overview
On your arrival pick up from the airport in Addis Ababa and drive to Awash National Park, 230 km away, part of the Ethiopian Great Rift Valley. The drive to Awash National Park will take us through the volcanic mountains and valleys, witness the lava on both sides of the road as freshly turned earth. We will stop at the beautiful Beseka Lake which is rich in birdlife. Here you can see the pink-winged pelican, African fish eagle, saddle-billed stork, and many more birds. This is also the place where you can see the nomadic Kereyu tribe, bringing in large herds of camels for water. In the afternoon, we will proceed to Awash National Park for a possible afternoon game drive and visit the beautiful Awash Falls. We will encounter wildlife such as Beisa oryx, baboon, lesser kudu, warthog, gazelle, and colobus monkey. If you’re lucky there will be a chance to see some of the big cats.
Overnight: Doho Lodge
In the morning, we will have an early morning game drive around Aledeghi Wildlife Reserve. Here we can expect to see olive baboons, beisa oryx, Soemmering’s gazelle, gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, waterbuck, perhaps the kori bustard and Arabian bustard, as well as many indigenous birds and more. After our morning game drive, we will drive to Doho Hot Springs where Doho Lodge is located. It overlooks Doho Lake, which formed as the result of the many hot springs around the area. For the rest of the day, relax around the hot springs.
Overnight: Doho Lodge
Take a drive to Lake Langano, with some stops on the way. On your arrival at Langano check in to your room in one of the best resort – Sabana Resort. Late in the afternoon, enjoy swimming, bird watching and watch the sun set at the beautiful Lake Langano.
Overnight: Sabana Resort
In the morning, drive for 20 minutes to the Abidjatta-Shalla Lakes National Park. Take a walking tour in the park to see warthog, Grant’s gazelle, black backed jackal, ostrich, baboon etc. Afterwards drive back to Addis Ababa with lunch stop in Ziway. Expect to arrive in Addis Ababa late in the afternoon, then transfer to airport for your flight back home.
