Day by Day Overview
You will be picked up from Pioneer Camp, after breakfast and transferred to Mvuu Lodge in Lower Zambezi. The drive to Mvuu Lodge will take around 5.5 hours. You shall be camping here for three nights. Mvuu, which is 25 kms away from the Lower Zambezi National Park gate, is the closest campsite to the park. On your arrival day, whilst the team set up the campsite, you will embark on a sundown boat cruise on the Zambezi river. You will return before sundown to find your camp set up and dinner on the way. The following two days, you shall explore the park, in your private vehicle with our guide.
After breakfast and packing down camp, we shall depart for Lelesha Lodge, Mumbwa. Lelesha is a strategic stop over, which will leave you with a much shorter drive to Kafue River Lodge the following morning.
After breakfast, you will begin the drive to Kafue River Lodge. The drive will take around 3.5 hours. Once you arrive, the team will build camp and you can head out on an afternoon river cruise, with the local guide. We will book an exclusive camp site for you there. The following day, you shall head out on a morning drive with our vehicle and guide, then an afternoon / evening drive with the local guide. The last full day, we will see what activities to do, according to what we have heard in the bush through the night before. It is likely we will start with a drive and do a river cruise in the afternoon. Or, you may choose from other activities the lodge offers, cycling or perhaps enjoying the hide for the afternoon.
After breakfast, you shall depart for Kasonso Camp, Busanga Plains. The drive shall take approximately 5 / 6 hours. Busanga is the jewel of the Kafue, regarded as one of the top wildlife destinations in Southern Africa. You shall be accommodated here on a half board basis at Kasonso Camp, which will include your accommodation, in a chalet, activities, meals, park fees and levies. The activities here are limited to game drives, due to the large region of Busanga. The program will be similar to Lower Zambezi and KRL … 05.00 wake up light breakfast then out on your morning activity. Afternoon / evening activities will start from 15.30 and return for around 19.30. You will be guided by one of the Northern Kafue Safari Guides.
After breakfast, we will transfer you by road back to Pioneer Camp, where you shall be accommodated in the Miombo chalets on a B&B basis.
