Day by Day Overview
The tour heads out in a north-westerly direction from Maun, making its way to the western side of the Okavango Delta, a veritable piece of heaven. Here you will meet fascinating local polers with their mokoro (traditional dug-out canoes) and cruise along the narrow, twisting, papyrus-lined channels, home to glorious bird life. The polers will transfer you to a beautiful island, where you will spend a day exploring via mokoro, as well as on guided walks along the magnificent flood planes. You will camp out in the open. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided on this day.
After exploring the incredible Okavango Delta, you will return to Maun. If it suits your fancy, you can choose to take a scenic flight over the delta, an amazing experience that allows you to appreciate the delta’s unique water system from the air. You will spend the night at a campsite just outside of Maun, where you will enjoy dinner and leisure time. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided on this day.
On day 3, make your way from Maun to the exciting Moremi Game Reserve, one of the most game-rich wilderness areas in Botswana. Your day will be spent searching for the wide variety of wildlife and birds that inhabit this area, as well as taking in the unique sounds and extraordinary beauty of this region. Sunrise and sunset game drives will be the norm during your stay in Moremi Game Reserve, as well as ample leisure time to enjoy a nap, read a book, or lap up some sun in-between drives. In Moremi, you will camp in a private designated campsite. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.
Your day will begin with a wholesome breakfast, followed by a long morning game drive, giving you the opportunity to spot amazing wildlife, and snap loads of photographs along the way. You will have a chance to explore the area more today, taking in the vegetation, trees and breathtaking landscapes of Moremi. After a fun day, you will have dinner and stay the night in a luxurious en-suite Sahara tent. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.
After a hearty breakfast at the campsite, you will leave Moremi Game Reserve and head for the Khwai Concession, a community-run eco-tourism initiative, and a superb example of conservation tourism at its best. As the first port of call for animals migrating from the Linyanti Reserve, the riverbanks and dry savannahs of this area are abundantly populated with roan and sable antelope, as well as buffalo, zebra, and giraffe. The concession’s elephant herds are widespread, as are the different predator groups such as lion, leopard, spotted hyena, cheetah, and the endangered African wild dog. You will have the opportunity to experience all of this during your stay in the Khwai Concession. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided on this day.
Today you will leave the Khwai Concession, and head to Savuti. Experience the contrasts of Botswana’s wilderness as you safari around this region of the Chobe National Park. The Savuti is famous for a river that suddenly stopped flowing due to shifts in the Earth’s crust. The river is now flowing again, and has made the desert landscape lush once more. During game drives, you will see several prides of lion, as well as black-backed jackal, bat-eared foxes, tsessebe, kudu, impala, and ostrich. During the summer months, thousands of zebra and other antelope species migrate to this area, offering a feast for the local predators. If you are here during this time of year, you will witness this incredible phenomenon. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided on this day.
Today you will go on both morning and afternoon game drives, with leisure time at the camp allocated in-between for lunch, a nap, and a chance to relax. You will also visit the site of fascinating rock paintings. If you like photography, don’t miss the opportunity to take amazing photographs of unique rock art, as well as the wildlife and landscapes of the area on this day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served at the campsite.
Today, the same as yesterday, you will go on both morning and afternoon game drives, with leisure time at the camp allocated in-between. You will have the chance to listen to animal calls and track their footprints as you continue your guided wildlife search through the beautiful Savuti wilderness. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served at the campsite.
After breakfast, continue to explore Chobe National Park, with its striking and magnificent landscapes. As you continue your search for wildlife, you will cover the drier region of Savuti, where bull elephants dot the plains. You will then head north to the Chobe River, where a game drive will take you along the banks of the river and further into the park. After a long day of wildlife watching, you will camp in a private designated area. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.
On the 10th day of your incredible trip, you will have the chance to explore more of Chobe, heading towards the Chobe river front. This area, which is mostly covered in ever-green vegetation, is well known for its large herds of elephants and cape buffalo, which converge along the riverfront during the dry months. Lion, antelope and hippo inhabit the woods and lagoons around Linyanti Marsh, so keep an eye out for them during your drives. The flood-able grasslands of the Savuti Marsh also attract numerous bird species, so if you’re a keen bird-watcher, bring your binoculars today! Enjoy a spectacular sunset boat cruise in the evening before heading back to camp. All meals are included on this day.
After a morning game drive in Chobe, you will cross the boarder into Zimbabwe, to visit the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls, situated on the Zambezi River. Enjoy this area with thrilling activities such as a dip into the incredible Devil’s Pool, white-water rafting along the beautiful river, a bungee jump off the Victoria Falls bridge, or zip-lining. After a day of sun and fun outdoor activities, you will spend the night at a comfortable lodge. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.
After a full breakfast, say goodbye to your beautiful surroundings, as it’s time for your transfer to Victoria Falls Airport to catch your return flight.
