Day by Day Overview
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International airport, you’ll have a meet and greet with a Long Way Expedition representative then you’ll be transferred to your lodge for an an overnight stay.
Today after the breakfast drive to Arusha National Park for a guided walk with an armed ranger and later proceed with the game drive. With only 137 square kms, Arusha has more to see than many much larger national parks. Visit the great and small Momella lakes, the forests that surround the Ngurdoto crater, the small Serengeti where you might spot the big animals like giraffes, buffaloes, and some families of baboons. Return to your lodge in the evening for an overnight stay.
After early breakfast drive to Marangu route hike tour. Marangu Route is the coolest route on Mount Kilimanjaro, with its ascension shape very slow and steady, enabling effortless hiking for most of the way. However, due to its status as a cool route, Marangu Route is often used by unprepared, inexpert climbers. Upon arrival you can just have a few hours walk to the nearest point of Mandala hut.
After breakfast drive to Southern Serengeti Ndutu in Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving in the afternoon. During the rainy time of the migration , wildebeests and zebras congregate in this area for calving, while predators from big to small follow the migration and turn this area into hunting ground full of action – it’s lion season!
After breakfast you will leave Southern Serengeti and head off to Central Serengeti with game viewing en route. Arrive at your tented camp before dark. From the sea of the waving red oats grass dotted with flat top acacia and sausage trees to the rocks outcrop known as kopjes, Serengeti is the home of the great migration. During your time here enjoy full day’s game drives in the park.
After breakfast head off to Ngorongoro highlands and upon arrival descend to the crater floor. Ngorongoro Crater was formed from a collapsed volcano and is now a self-sustaining ecosystem with the densest predator population in all of Africa – you may be able to spot the Big 5 in a single afternoon!
Today after breakfast you will drive to Kilimanjaro airport. Depending on your departure flight you can have an Arusha town tour before you drive to the airport.
