This treks takes you in the largest afro alpine habitat in the whole of Africa. Bale Mountains National Park covers the largest afro alpine habitat in the whole of Africa. It is an area of high altitude plateau that is fragmented by the numerous remarkable volcanic plugs and peaks, beautiful alpine lakes and mountain streams that run down in the deep rocky and gorges on their way to the lowlands. It is heaven for various endemic mammals including Ethiopian wolf, mountain nyala, Bale monkey and many endemic birds. There are peaks which rise more than 4000m and Mount Tullu Deemtu which has an altitude of 4377 above sea level, the second highest peak in Ethiopia. The Bale Mountains remain unspoiled and exceptionally beautiful. It gives a wonderful trekking opportunity for those who seek a unique trekking experience in the isolated mountains of Ethiopia as well as a chance to interact with the local community and witness their culture and the way of life of Oromo people.

Flights & visas
Transfer to the airport for a flight to Bale Mountain (approx. 2 hours). You will be picked from the airport Goba and immediately depart for Headquarters, arriving in Dinsho before lunch time. Check in and enjoy lunch then relax before your afternoon walking at 4 pm for 2 hours. Return later to the camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Overnight: Dinsho Camp
Have a morning walk to spot wildlife before you return to the camp for breakfast. Then continue with a full day trekking, approximately around 6-7 hours walking. Surrounded by forest and plains, with a total area size of 2165 square kilometers and home to more than 450 different kinds of birds, Bale Mountain Park is one of the finest ornithological sights in Africa and famous as the location of the greatest bird spectacles on earth. In addition, look for endemic Ethiopia wolf. Return later to camp for dinner.

Today is approximately 5-6 hours walking, departing after breakfast for trekking to Wasama mountain, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you will have a walk yourself around the beautiful Wasama valley to look for Ethiopian wolf, at the latitude of 4000 metres above sea level.

After breakfast leave for Garba Gurach Lake, which is 6-7 hours trekking. Have a relax once you arrive then enjoy a picnic lunch. Have another walk to the lake, then return to the camp for dinner.

Have an early breakfast then depart for Sennett Plateau (approx. 2 hours walk). Meet with a vehicle and continue driving to the Haranna Forest for lunch with a stop to spot wildlife on the way. Once you arrive in Haranna Forest have an introductory game drive till 6 pm when you head to the camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Have an early breakfast then depart for Hawasa, which is approximately 4 hours driving. On arrival in check and have lunch. Spend the rest of day with boat trips walk around the beach and look out for the wildlife that inhabits this beautiful savannah land. There will be lunch at the one of best hotels along Awasa Lake where you will have a
chance to spot hippos.
Optional activities: the next day you will visit fish markets exchanging new experience with local people.

Depart for Arbminch after breakfast. The journey is approximately 5-6 hours driving, with a stop on the way for lunch and to visit the Dorze tribe who live on the Guhe mountain. The Dorze are renowned for their cotton weaving techniques and beehive shaped house constructed entirely from organic materials. In their village you can see ithe unique beehive huts, observe their exceptional cotton weaving skills and learn about their life and traditions.
Overnight: Arbminch
After breakfast we will take a boat trip on Lake Chamo and view some of the largest crocodiles in the world sunning themselves on the banks of the lake. Hippopotamus and birdlife are also abundant. Then continue t he drive to Turmi where you will visit the Konso and Hammer tribes. Turmi is a center to visit the Omo Valley tribes. On the way stop at the Konso and visit their village. The Konso tribe is famous for their agricultural terracing methods and for their wooden totems that honor their dead. The Konso village are a World Heritage Site listed for its cultural significance. The village is surrounded by high stone walls encompassing separate compounds. After lunch continue further south through the acacia forest to Turmi. They’re known for the fine pottery they produce as well as their remarkable hairstyles. The women are striking wearing beautiful colorful beaded goat skins, ornate necklaces and meats bangles around their wrist and ankles. This decoration indicate the wealth and the prestige of a women’s husband.
Overnight: Turmi
In the morning travel towards Omorate on a 75kms good asphalt road to visit the Dessenach tribe. Omorate lies on the banks of Omo River, close to the border of Kenya. You will cross the Omo River with a local boat and continue walking to one of the Dessenach villages. The Dessenach are semi-nomadic tribes living on the shores of the Omo River, their clans stretch across Sudan, Kenya, and southern Ethiopia. They’re known for their very unique ornate hair buns and they grow crops and catch fish. Afterwards return back to Turmi, the continue to the Jinka for lunch, then depending on time continue for the next visit.
Discovery the Mursi tribes through Mago National Park to visit one of the villages of the Mursi tribes, the most well known tribes in the area. The tribe is famous for both for their women who practice extending their lower lips with clay discs and their men who engage in stick fighting rituals called Donga. The Mursi are probably the last tribe in Africa where it is still the norm for women to wear those large pottery or wooden discs or plates. Afterwards, return back to Jinka for overnight and have dinner at the one of best restaurants.
Overnight: Jinka
Early the morning after breakfast transfer to the airport for your return flight back to Addis Ababa. On arrival in the afternoon, depending on the program we will take you to one of the famous traditional restaurants, after which you will dropped at the airport for your flight back home.
