After 2-3 hours, you will reach a viewpoint that offers views of the impressive seasonal Jinibar waterfall. Climb a fairly steep trail for an hour before reaching the Jinbar valley and then descend to the Jinbar River at an altitude of 3,190m. Enjoy a picnic lunch among the majestic scenery that surrounds you while keeping an eye out for the rare lammergeyer bearded vulture. After lunch you will gradually ascend for 2-3 hours until you reach the Gich Village, a traditional Muslim community. First you will have a gentle climb to the viewpoint and with some luck, you may see the iconic Ethiopian wolf. While sitting amongst the rocks at Imeg Gogo, you will be able to see Ras Dejen in the distance. Later you will hike for an hour through the afroalpine meadow that takes you to the Lobelia Valley, home to thousands of these giant plants. The trail then brings you to the second viewpoint at Saha, offering stunning views of the dramatic gorge and rock towers. Here you can enjoy some lunch before the final ascent to last viewpoint of the day, Kedadit. You will then make your way back down to your campsite in Gich for the evening.

There are a dozen castles in the city, built by various emperors over the course of 236 years. You will visit Fasiladas’ Palace, the oldest and most impressive of the castles in the area. Later you can visit the Debre Berhan Selassie (Light of the Trinity) church with its interior decorated by beautiful frescos, cherubs and paintings.
