Day by Day Overview

On arrival at Antananarivo airport, after passport control and money exchange, your driver will take you to your hotel.

  • Overnight stay in Citizen Hotel

After breakfast at the hotel, you drive about 130 km eastward to the region of Andasibe. Along the way you stop at the chameleon farm of Marozevo where you can take photos of the rare chameleon species and leaf-tailed geckos. Before dinner you can look forward to an evening walk at the edge of the forest, watching frogs, chameleons and other nocturnal animals in their night-time pursuits.

  • Overnight stay in Vakona Hotel

Your day starts with a hike in the Analamazaotra National Park where you look for the indris, the biggest living lemur. Accompanied by the different noises of the wild animals, we wander through the rainforest of Andasibe. After Analamazaotra National Park, discover the Vakona Reserve where you can watch and take photos of beautiful lemurs.

  • Overnight stay in Vakona hotel

After trekking in Andasibe Park with its tropical climate, we continue our trip to Antsirabe where your driver will accompany you to your hotel. You will then enjoy a city tour of the town.

  • Overnight in Couleur Café Hotel

Two hours away from Antsirabe is the town of Ambositra, which means ‘where there are a lot of cattle’. Ambositra is famous for its bullfights, handicrafts and wood carving. The wood carving is created by the people of the Zafimaniry, you can find the finished carvings in many shops. Your final stop today is Ranomafana National Park where before dinner we go on an evening walk along the edge of the forest – be on the lookout for chameleons, frogs and mouse lemurs.

  • Overnight in Grenat Hotel

Seeing the bamboo lemurs here is one of the highlights of this journey. The German primatologist Bernhard Meier contributed to the development of nature tourism in Ranomafana National Park in 1986, thanks to his discovery of a new bamboo lemur species, the golden bamboo lemur. Three bamboo lemur species live in this national park: the eastern lesser bamboo lemur (Hapalemur griseus), the greater bamboo lemur (Prolemur simus) and the golden bamboo lemur. With a little luck you can get a glance at all three. The rainforest is also impressive with its beautiful flora and your reward will be a panoramic view over the national park at the end of the hike. There may be an option to swim in the natural pool of Ranomafana.

  • Overnight stay in Grenat Hotel

Your first stop is only a few minutes away from your hotel – an impressive waterfall – followed by Anja Park where you will see wild ring-tailed lemurs, Madagascar iguanas, Von Höhnel’s chameleons and carpet chameleons, in this dry forest which is managed by farmers. On arrival at your final destination for the day, Ambalavao, you will go on a city tour before heading to your hotel.

  • Overnight in The Jardin du Roy Hotel

In the morning you visit a factory which makes paper from the Avoha tree, a production which originated with Arabic merchants. Look forward to the beautiful pictures and designs. Afterwards you visit a silk factory where you can follow the production from the cocoon to the silk scarf. From Ambalavao you drive further south, passing the Gate of the South which borders the area of the Bara, home of the original people of Madagascar, before visiting Isalo Park.

  • Overnight stay in the Jardin du Roy Hotel

Today’s scenery resembles the landscape of typical African savannah. Before heading to your room, take a 3/4 hour walk in the Arboretum, a fantastic walk through botanic gardens where you can see endemic bird species.

  • Overnight stay in the Paradisier Hotel

Two days to relax and enjoy the hotel and the beauty of the Island.

  • Overnight stay in the Paradisier Hotel

Your transfer to the southern airport of Toliary and fly back to Antananarivo. The city tour program will depend on the flight’s arrival time back to the capital.

  • Overnight stay in Citizen Hotel

After a wonderful holiday, it’s time to leave Madagascar on your flight home. We wish you a good flight and hope you come back one day for new adventures.
