Day by Day Overview

Upon arrival at Kasane airport, you will be met and taken to The Old House, where you will be staying for 1 night. Depending on your arrival time, we can organize an afternoon game drive or river cruise on the Chobe River for you (at additional cost).

The Chobe River forms the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park, renowned for its diverse and abundant game viewing opportunities. This section of the park is best known for its dense concentration of wildlife including elephant and hippo populations, but the waters attract all manner of game including large herds of buffalo and the lions that prey on them. A visit to this area guarantees close encounters with an array of African wildlife. Visitors can look forward to some exciting activities such as game drives along the wildlife-dotted river banks in a 4WD; cruising along the river in a motorboat, spotting rare birdlife for a unique safari experience.

Overnight: The Old House, B&B basis
The Old House is a family run and owned guest house situated on the banks of the Chobe River and a mere walking distance from the center of town and a 10 minute boat cruise or drive to famous Chobe National Park for spectacular wildlife viewing. We offer most activities such as boat cruises, game drives, fishing and Victoria Falls day trips with a personalized touch and care. All our rooms air-conditioned with en-suite facilities, tea and coffee making facilities and mosquito nets. The décor in the rooms is modern with a touch of Africa. Our fabulous restaurant and bar offers a variety of local cuisine all on al-carte basis and some great imported wines and spirits with a variety of local cold beers. A plunge pool, gift shop and wireless internet access and a private jetty onto the Chobe river are all a part of the facilities.

At 9.00 am walk over to the safari starting point. A briefing will follow and at 9.30 am you board the boat for a 3 hour boat cruise into the Chobe National Park. You will have the chance to see fantastic bird life, hippos, crocodiles and of course elephant and Cape buffalo. The boat cruise ends at the Coffee Buzz restaurant at 12.30 pm. There is an opportunity to do last minute shopping in Kasane. You then depart on an afternoon game drive and arrive in camp shortly after sunset for drinks around the camp fire and dinner under the stars.

Overnight: Chobe Mobile Site (HATAB), Fully Inclusive basis, 2 nights
Experience the thrill of camping in the bush, with spacious walk in tents, a bed roll and bedding (mattress, sheet duvet and pillow).

You will be woken up at dawn and after a quick cup of tea or coffee and a light continental breakfast vehicles head off on an early morning game drive. This time of day is best for finding the big cats or the rare wild dogs. Around mid to late morning you will return to camp for brunch and a siesta. When the day starts to cool off another afternoon game drive follows afternoon tea. Chobe National Park has a wide variety of game – the cats and large herbivores such as elephant and buffalo being a highlight, but rarer game such as puku, eland, sable and roan antelope along with many more  common antelope can be viewed here. Return to camp after sunset for a reflective fireside chat. Dinner follows.

After a quick cup of tea or coffee and some cereal you head off on another early morning game drive. After your brunch you pack up and then leave the camp on your last activity which is usually another boat cruise, to be dropped off in Kasane/Kazungula at 4.30 pm and taken over the boarder to Victoria Falls by another transfer. There you will stay for 2 nights in a chalet at the Explorer Village or similar.

Resting on the southern banks of the Zambezi River at the western end of the eponymous falls, this popular tourist town is compact enough to walk around and makes an ideal base for travellers exploring the Seventh Wonder of the World, the unfathomably vast Victoria Falls. About two-thirds of the Falls can be viewed from the Zimbabwean side and, while the Falls are undoubtedly the star attraction, the area provides both adventure seekers and sightseers with plenty of opportunities to warrant a longer stay. Popular activities include scenic flights over the Falls by helicopter or microlight, bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls Bridge, white-water rafting (seasonal) and day trips to Chobe National Park. The town itself offers some excellent accommodation and restaurant options as well as an eclectic variety of African curios and authentic art sold by friendly Zimbabwean locals who are wonderfully welcoming and eager to help you enjoy your stay.

Overnight: Shearwater Explorers Village, B&B basis, 2 nights
Located merely 400m from the Victoria Falls, 100m from the epicenter of the Victoria Falls town with its craft and craft and curio markets, bohemian cafes and overlooking a natural African bush panorama, the Shearwater Explorers Village is the perfect ‘base camp’. Comprising 5 bespoke overland camping sites modern ablution facilities and 16 private chalets, the Village represents affordable accommodation at its finest – clean, cool, relaxing, elegant, excellent traditional food, ice cold drinks and exceptionally friendly hosts ready to welcome you and guide you through your Victoria Falls experience.

Enjoy a day at leisure to visit the Victoria Falls and for one or more of many other activities that Victoria Falls has on offer such as a sunset cruise, microlight or helicopter flight over the Falls, white water rafting and much more.

After breakfast you will be taken to the airport where your short trip ends. Further arrangements can be organised if required.
