Day by Day Overview

Your Kenyan safari adventure begins early at 7:30 am, when we’ll pick you up from your hotel, residence, or the airport in Nairobi. We’ll embark on a scenic drive northward through the Central Kenyan Highlands, offering a glimpse of everyday life in the countryside. As you journey through farmland and local villages, the majestic Mount Kenya will start to emerge on the horizon, setting the stage for an unforgettable adventure.

Upon arrival at your accommodation within the Samburu National Reserve, enjoy a leisurely lunch and take the time to relax, explore your surroundings, and soak in the breath-taking views from your lodge or camp. In the late afternoon, you’ll set off on your first game drive in a specially adapted safari vehicle. As the sun begins to dip, the landscape comes alive—herds of grazers lounge in the cooler air, predators make their moves, and the plains become a theatre of wildlife activity. This thrilling first game drive is the perfect introduction to Kenya’s incredible wildlife.

After your exciting safari experience, you’ll return to your lodge or camp for a delicious dinner, followed by a restful night, preparing for another day of exploration.

After a hearty breakfast, you’ll set off for an exciting morning game drive across the diverse landscapes of Samburu National Reserve. The park is unique in that it encompasses multiple ecosystems, from lush forests and swamps to open scrublands, creating the perfect habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. The park’s most famous landmark, the Ewaso Ng’iro River, flows through the heart of Samburu, attracting a host of wildlife along its banks. As you traverse the reserve, you’ll have the chance to spot not only the Big Five but also other fascinating animals such as: (Samburu Special 5)

In the late afternoon, you’ll head out for another exciting game drive as the golden light of the sunset creates the perfect opportunity for stunning photographs and more wildlife encounters.

Your second day of safari in Kenya includes:

After breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to the wild beauty of Samburu. You’ll enjoy a short game drive as you exit the park, taking one last look at the stunning landscapes and wildlife before heading toward your next destination, Lake Nakuru. As you drive through the Great African Rift Valley, you’ll witness the breath-taking scenery that makes this region so iconic. Along the way, you’ll stop for lunch in Nyahururu, a lively town known for its charm and bustling atmosphere. After enjoying a delicious meal, you’ll continue your journey toward Lake Nakuru.

Once you arrive at your camp or lodge and check in, you’ll head out to explore the beauty of Lake Nakuru. The lake, famous for its vibrant pink flamingos, offers a unique opportunity to spot over 400 bird species along its shores. In addition to the flamingos, you might catch a glimpse of various mammals, including the rare Rothschild giraffe and black rhinos that roam the park. As the sun sets over the lake, you’ll return to your accommodation for dinner. Reflect on the day’s adventures, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of nature, before resting for the night and preparing for more exploration tomorrow.

The third day of your Kenyan safari includes:

Road transfer:

250 km, 4 – 5 hours drive

Making your way out of the national reserve after breakfast gives you chance to enjoy one last game drive through the area. It’s time to move southwards to the drier, flatter lands that form the area that is host to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Before reaching this most famed of destinations, you will get a chance to pay a quick visit to one of the other major lakes of the Great African Rift Valley, Lake Naivasha.

Once south and into the lands of the Masai Mara, you will make your way to your selected camp or lodge for lunch. After eating, it’s time to head out into the famed Masai Mara, where you will be treated to such delights as

  • Lions
  • Zebras
  • Baboons
  • Rhinos
  • Giraffes

And if you’re visiting during July to October you may be able to witness one of the greatest migrations on earth as the wildebeest move across this vast land.

Take your evening to drink in the sights of the afternoon, look through the magnificent photo’s you’ve taken, and contemplate what beauty may lie ahead for another day. After dinner at your camp or lodge your evening is your own. Day four of this Kenyan safari experience includes:

Road transfer:

300 km – 5 – 6 hours drive

With some of the highest concentrations of wildlife in all of Africa, Masai Mara is nothing short of magical. After breakfast, you’ll set out on a full day of exploration through this iconic landscape, where endless plains are dotted with acacia trees, creating the perfect backdrop for the abundant wildlife. The big cats, lions, cheetahs, and leopards, can often be spotted in their natural habitat, while herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles graze in the open savanna, keeping the grasses trimmed and alive with movement.

As you explore, you’ll encounter not only the majestic mammals and vibrant birdlife of the Mara but also the deep-rooted human presence that has lived harmoniously with the land for centuries. The Masai people, known for their warrior culture and striking attire, have long called this area home. You’ll have the chance to visit one of their villages, where a warm welcome awaits in the form of traditional singing and dancing. Take a guided tour of the village, learn about their unique way of life, and step inside one of their mud-and-stick homes to gain a deeper understanding of their connection with the land.

After a day immersed in nature and culture, you’ll return to your lodge or camp for a well-deserved dinner and a moment to reflect on the incredible experiences of the day.

Your fifth day of this African safari includes:

  • Overnight stay inside Masai Mara National Reserve
  • Breakfast, lunch, and dinner (other drinks are extra)
  • Drinking water provided

Your final day in the wild savannas of Kenya begins with breakfast, followed by a leisurely game drive through Masai Mara as you start your journey back north towards Nairobi. This is your last chance to catch glimpses of your favorite animals in their natural habitat before leaving the park. With luck, you might spot a few final wildlife moments as you exit the reserve, passing through small towns and villages on your way.

After a scenic stop for lunch along the route, you will continue your journey back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon. From here, you can choose to be dropped off at your hotel, residence, or directly at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (or Wilson Airport for domestic flights), depending on your onward travel plans.

Your last day on safari includes:
