8-Day Northern Tanzania and Lake Natron Trip

In the morning, you’ll depart from Arusha and journey to Tarangire National Park, arriving before midday. Upon entering the park, you’ll embark on both a morning and afternoon game drive, where you’ll have the chance to spot a wide variety of wildlife. Enjoy a delicious lunch during the day before continuing your adventure. Your evening will be spent at a comfortable hotel, where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful night under the African sky.

After a hearty breakfast in Karatu, you’ll depart for the renowned Serengeti National Park. On your way, you’ll pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, offering breathtaking views of the Ngorongoro Crater before reaching the Serengeti gate. Upon arrival, enjoy a delicious lunch before heading out on an exciting afternoon game drive. Explore the vast plains in search of wildlife, from majestic predators to herds of grazing animals, before returning to camp for a well-earned dinner and a restful evening.

Today, you’ll rise early for a memorable morning game drive, where you’ll have the chance to witness a stunning African sunrise over the bush. After a warm cup of coffee, you’ll venture into the wilderness to observe the wildlife as they stir from the night, the dew-covered grasses providing a serene backdrop. After your morning adventure, you’ll return to camp for a hearty breakfast and some time to relax. In the afternoon, you’ll set out once more to explore the vast plains, searching for more wildlife before exiting the park. As the day winds down, you’ll head towards Ngorongoro, where you can unwind, enjoy a delicious dinner, and settle in for a peaceful overnight stay.

After breakfast, you’ll begin your journey to the iconic Ngorongoro Crater. Departing from your campsite with a picnic lunch in hand, you’ll descend into the breathtaking crater, surrounded by towering walls that enclose this unique natural wonder. Inside the crater, you’ll explore a rich tapestry of wildlife, with the chance to spot all of Africa’s Big Five, along with countless other species, including a variety of birds. You’ll enjoy a full day of safari within the crater, taking in its stunning diversity and remarkable landscapes. Afterward, you’ll head to Eileen’s Tree Inn, enjoy a delicious dinner, and rest for the night.

After breakfast you’ll set off for Lake Natron, journeying through a remote and strikingly beautiful landscape that exudes a sense of timelessness and vastness. The roads wind through untouched Maasai land, where small bomas dot the horizon and towering mountains provide a dramatic backdrop against the arid, otherworldly terrain. Lake Natron is home to nearly two million flamingos, creating a stunning spectacle. En route to the lodge, you’ll have the opportunity to stop and visit the natural hot springs, adding an extra touch of adventure to your day. Upon arrival at the lodge, you’ll be greeted by breathtaking views of Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai, an active volcano that stands majestically in the distance. Offering a perfect spot to relax and take in the scenery. After settling in, you can embark on a short 10-minute walk with your guide to the lake, where you’ll have the chance to witness its unique beauty up close.

In the morning, your guide will lead you on an exciting walk to the nearby waterfalls (be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes). Along the way, you’ll pass through several Maasai villages, and your Maasai guide will share insights into the local culture and landscape. After enjoying the scenic beauty of the falls, you’ll return to the lodge for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll begin your journey back to Arusha, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences of your safari adventure.
