Tour Overview

This private safari tour explores the worlds most beautiful city and its stunning natural surroundings including Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope, Whale Coast, West Coast National Park and Winelands. Cape Town (my hometown) is a bucket list must!

After your tour of the Western Cape you fly to Johannesburg and are transferred by road (direct flights from Cape Town to the Kruger Park are available) to the iconic Kruger National Park for your 4-day private safari which includes a safari walk with armed rangers. Your safari guides are the best in the business and our friends.

The park has one of the highest chances in Africa of seeing all of the Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino & buffalo).

A full day private tour of the Blyde River Canyon via the Panorama Route includes its top natural attractions like the 3 Rondawels, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window and the Lisbon Falls. The canyon is the world’s 3rd largest, but largest “vegetated” canyon.

This program offers by far the best value I’ve seen of South Africa. It can be tailored to suit your requirements.

Day by Day Overview

Transfer – you can either take our complimentary shuttle service from Johannesburg to Kruger (6 hours) or fly directly and we shall collect you from the Kruger airport.

You have time to relax and enjoy a light lunch, thereafter dive into the pool or walk around the beautiful lodge and walking trail. We depart from the lodge at around 3:30 pm for a sunset/nocturnal safari in the Kruger National Park. The sun sets early in the winter months, which means you will have a longer night safari. In summer, you enjoy beautiful sunsets while on safari. Return to the lodge at around 8:00 pm for a lovely dinner and a good night’s rest, preparing for your full-day safari in the Kruger National Park.

  • Accommodation: Bushbaby Lodge 4 star
  • Meals: Lunch & Dinner
  • Drinks: Mineral water

All safaris start before sunrise, the best part of the day, not knowing what to expect. After a short drive, we enter the park gates. Your guide will know which areas are the best to find the wildlife, including the Big 5 and plains game. This is the finest time of the day to see predators. The lodge will arrange breakfast packs and your guide will stop after about 3 hours for breakfast, a bathroom break and a chance to get a coffee. We then continue with your safari. Kruger offers a variety of ecozones and each one has a different range of wildlife. We visit rivers and watering holes as well as plains and bushveld regions. We stop for lunch at a rest camp, where this meal will be for your own account. You have time to do some curio shopping or enjoy a cold beer! The guide will then continue with the safari heading towards the lodge. We arrive back between 3:30 – 4:30 pm, with enough time to relax, swim and have a great dinner.

Today we visit God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Blyde River Canyon (world’s 3rd largest canyon), Lisbon Waterfall, the 3 Rondawels and the town of Graskop. God’s Window allows people a window from the escarpment and has a 1,300 m drop below. One can see as far as Kruger and beyond on a clear day. There is a fantastic short walk through a natural rainforest environment. Bourke’s Luck Potholes are a stunning natural formation created by water erosion over hundreds of years. The Bourke’s Luck Potholes have round carvings and holes of different sizes formed in the Truer River and Blyde River confluence in the red sandstone. Your guides will brief you on all the history of the region. You can use small footbridges and walk over the chasms, looking at the water flowing through the cracks and holes. There are also several small but beautiful waterfalls in the area. We spend about 1 hour here. It’s a great walk of about 1 km in total.

A walking safari with an armed ranger is an active and interactive way to view wildlife, which allows you to interact with nature in a way that game drives don’t. Examine and follow animal tracks, see creatures up close and appreciate the amazing flora that covers the land. Being on foot lets you into a world so few get to see, hear, touch and smell – your guide will help you meet Africa’s flora and fauna up close and personal. After a short breakfast and coffee stop, we’ll continue with the safari returning to the lodge at around 11 am. Here you’ll say goodbye to your guide and freshen up before the journey back to Johannesburg. On arrival, check in for your flight to Cape Town and you will be met by either myself or my colleague and transferred you to your hotel.

This region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the exceptional floral diversity of the area. We follow the west coast via Clifton, stopping at Maiden’s Cove to enjoy a view of the Twelve Apostles and Camps Bay. Hout Bay is next, a charming little town, where we board a boat for a trip to Duiker Island, home to the world’s largest fur seal colony. From here, we drive along Chapman’s Peak Pass, looking at the breathtaking views. Next is the Cape of Good Hope National Park, the most westerly point on the African continent where the cold Atlantic Ocean meets the warmer waters of the Indian Ocean. The early Portuguese mariners named this famous landmark, and you have an opportunity to walk to the lighthouse. Then our journey takes us to False Bay, visit Africa’s largest remaining African Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach. Finally, we are off to Boyes Drive, which offers a great view of the surfers below, and if you would like, chat with the shark spotter while he scours the bay looking after surfers .

Kalk Bay was voted the “coolest neighbourhood in the world” a few years ago, its my home village. Just the perfect place to finish your South African safari holiday. This quant and colourful seaside fishing village is only 30 minutes drive from Cape Town city centre, and it is hard to imagine that you are in one of South Africa’s largest cities when visiting Kalk Bay.Kalk Bay is famous for its boutique antique shops, excellent restaurants and the most famous fish and chip shop in the city.

  • Everything is within a 3 min walk from your guest house. There are a few tidal pools, safe coastal walks, cave trails in the mountain, surfing lessons at Muizenberg beach, snorkelling with seals and penguins, great white shark cage diving, whale and dolphin watching in season (June to December), fishing off the harbour wall and more. St James tidal pool is famous for those colorful Victorian changing rooms.I will take you on a coastal hike and show you around.
