Day by Day Overview
After an early breakfast, depart Nairobi around 7:30 a.m. and begin your scenic drive north toward the untamed beauty of Samburu National Reserve. Traverse the changing landscapes – from the highlands to the arid northern frontier -arriving at your camp in time for a welcome lunch and a chance to unwind. Later in the afternoon, head out on your first game drive across the reserve’s dramatic terrain.
Samburu, situated just north of the equator, is renowned for its rare and resilient wildlife, uniquely adapted to arid conditions. Keep your eyes peeled for the “Samburu Special Five”: the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, gerenuk (the giraffe gazelle), and the blue-legged Somali ostrich. The park also hosts a rich variety of other wildlife, including elephants, lions and the elusive leopard. As the sun sets over the rugged hills, return to camp for dinner and a restful evening under the stars.

Begin your day with an early breakfast before venturing out on a morning game drive through the dramatic landscapes of Samburu National Reserve. This unique ecosystem in northern Kenya is home to an array of rare and endemic species, including the elegant Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, beisa oryx, and the long-necked gerenuk. The reserve’s rugged beauty and sparse vegetation offer exceptional wildlife viewing and photography opportunities. After approximately four hours of exploration, return to the lodge for a delicious lunch and a chance to relax during the heat of the day. At 4:00 pm, set off once again for an evening game drive until 6:00 pm.

After an early breakfast, we depart Samburu and begin our journey toward the breathtaking Lake Nakuru National Park. En route, enjoy a leisurely game drive as we exit the reserve, with a chance to spot early risers in the morning light. Our first stop is at the Equator—a perfect spot to stretch, take photos, and experience the novelty of standing in both hemispheres at once. We then continue to Nyahururu, where we’ll pause for a delicious lunch and perhaps catch a glimpse of the nearby Thompson Falls.
The drive continues through Kenya’s fertile highlands, a region famed for its lush coffee and tea plantations. Along the way, we stop at the iconic Great Rift Valley viewpoint to admire sweeping panoramic vistas of this geological wonder. We’ll also visit a local tea plantation to learn about Kenya’s rich agricultural heritage. By late afternoon, we arrive in Lake Nakuru National Park and check in at the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge, beautifully set within the park with stunning views over the lake.
Overnight: Sarova Lion Hill Lodge (FB)
After a hearty breakfast, embark on an exciting morning game drive, exploring the park’s rich landscapes and diverse wildlife until around noon. Return to the lodge for a delicious lunch, followed by some well-deserved time to relax and soak in the serene surroundings of the magnificent Sarova Lion Hill Lodge. At 4:00 pm, set out again for an afternoon game drive that runs until 6:00 pm. Lake Nakuru National Park is renowned for its breathtaking flocks of flamingos, over 450 bird species, and approximately 50 species of mammals. Keep an eye out for gazelles, zebras, baboons, warthogs, waterbucks, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, lions, and both black and white rhinos.
Overnight: Sarova Lion Hill Lodge (FB)
After breakfast, depart for Amboseli National Park, passing through Lake Naivasha for a boat ride. Then proceed to Amboseli, arriving there in time for lunch. After our leisurely lunch break, proceed with our evening game drive until 6:00 pm. This park is the home of elephants, wildebeests (gnus), buffaloes, gazelles, lions, cheetahs, monkey families, and rare bird species. In the early evening, the clouds cleared, exposing the snow-capped dome of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Overnight: Serena Lodge or equivalent (FB)
After a hearty breakfast, venture into the heart of Amboseli National Park for a thrilling morning game drive. As the golden light spills across the plains, explore the park’s dramatic landscapes and encounter a rich variety of wildlife, from majestic elephants to elusive big cats. Return to the lodge around midday for a delicious lunch, followed by a well-deserved break to unwind and soak in the tranquil beauty of the Amboseli Serena Lodge, with its stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
At 4:00 pm, set out once more for an afternoon game drive. As the sun begins to dip, the park comes alive with activity, offering another chance to witness the vibrant wildlife against the backdrop of Amboseli’s breathtaking scenery. Return to the lodge by 6:00 pm with unforgettable memories etched into your day.

After breakfast, enjoy a final early morning game drive through Amboseli’s breathtaking landscapes, soaking in the last glimpses of its iconic wildlife and majestic views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Later, begin your scenic journey back to Nairobi, arriving in time for a special farewell lunch at the renowned Carnivore Restaurant, famous for its unique selection of grilled meats and vibrant atmosphere. After lunch, you’ll be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight, carrying with you unforgettable memories of your Kenyan adventure (BL).
