7-Day Samburu, Naivasha, Mara Midrange Tour

Enjoy a morning game drive in search of unique northern Kenya species as well as many other species. Much of the reserve consists of desert landscape; dusty red plains broken by thorny scrub, featuring dramatic views of table top Mt Ol Olokwe on the horizon. Later in the afternoon experience the Samburu culture by visiting their Manyattas.

Depart Samburu after breakfast arriving in time for lunch at Olpejeta Conservancy. This is a beautiful private game reserve and home to rare species such as Beisa oryx, Rothschild’s giraffe, chimpanzee and black rhino. Game drives here reveal the full range of African wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and hippo. Enjoy a private visit with the tamed animals at the wildlife orphanage. Observe chimps at the Chimpanzee Sanctuary as well.

Have breakfast then depart for Lake Naivasha arriving before lunch time. Later in the afternoon enjoy a game view and the lake view from your room. The resort is home to resident giraffes, waterbucks, vervet and colobus monkeys. It also has hippos which come out at night to trim the grass on the hotel’s expansive lawns.

Today’s drive takes you through The Great Rift Valley, the longest rift in the crust of the earth, to the Masai Mara National Reserve. You will spend two nights in this natural paradise among lions, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, buffalo, elephant, antelope and gazelle. There is a good chance of spotting cheetah and if you are lucky, the shy leopard. You will arrive at your camp in time for a late lunch. After lunch enjoy a short rest before departing on your afternoon game drive, returning to the lodge in time for dinner. You spend the next couple of days enjoying private game drives with your own driver-guide in the Masai Mara looking for the big five and other wildlife.

After breakfast, go on a full-day game drive and enjoy your picnic lunch at the Mara River. You have the opportunity to see the spectacular migration of wildebeest during the peak season from July to October, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The Maasai Mara is the best park in Kenya to view animals including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants and much more. After the game drive you have a chance to experience the Maasai culture by visiting a Maasai Village.

After breakfast, depart Maasai Mara Game Reserve with game viewing en route to the main Narok road. At Narok, you will have a chance for last-minute shopping, or lunch (at own cost). Continue to Nairobi where we shall drop you at your hotel, your residence or the airport.
