Day by Day Overview
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival, an All Wheels Experience representative will warmly greet you at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you’ll have a chance to relax and recharge for the unforgettable safari adventure ahead. Arusha, the bustling heart of northern Tanzania, is a vital gateway for travelers embarking on their safari journey.
Your All Wheels Experience guide will pick you up from your accommodation after breakfast. Today, you’ll embark on a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, approximately two and a half hours away on well-maintained tarmac roads. The park derives its name from the Tarangire River, known as the “river of warthogs,” which serves as the only water source for wildlife during the dry season. Renowned for its magnificent elephant herds, Tarangire is also home to giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, all of which attract a variety of predators, including lions and leopards. The park boasts the highest number of breeding bird species found anywhere on the planet! You’ll also encounter the impressive ancient Baobab trees, some of which are believed to be over a thousand years old.
Enjoy a delightful picnic lunch at a scenic spot within the park. After your thrilling game drive, you’ll proceed to your accommodation in Karatu for a well-deserved rest.
After breakfast, you’ll ascend into the cooler regions of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with an opportunity to marvel at the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater along the way. Continuing your journey, you’ll transit through the conservation area to the Serengeti, entering from the south.
The Serengeti is nothing short of spectacular, renowned for its expansive open grasslands that offer exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities. While it is home to a rich variety of animals, the park is especially famous for the annual Great Migration. During this incredible event, vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, and antelope follow a seasonal path in search of fresh grazing. Depending on your timing, you may witness one of the ‘Seven Wonders of the Natural World.’
Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the stunning scenery, and prepare for a night under the stars at a cozy tented camp in Central Serengeti.
Today is dedicated entirely to exhilarating game drives in the Serengeti, where an abundance of wildlife awaits your discovery. Here, you’ll encounter a diverse range of animals, including impala, buffalo, crocodile, and hippo. The iconic landscapes serve as a stunning backdrop, and you’ll have ample opportunities to spot predators like lion, cheetah, and leopard.
Depending on the Great Migration’s location, you may venture beyond the Central region to witness this awe-inspiring spectacle up close. Each moment spent in the Serengeti is filled with wonder, making this a truly life-changing experience you won’t forget.
Embrace your final sunrise in the Serengeti with a leisurely morning game drive, allowing you to soak in the breathtaking beauty of the landscape one last time. As you wind your way through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you’ll be captivated by the wonders that unfold along the journey.
Your destination is the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, where you’ll enjoy a comfortable stay at a mid-range lodge located near the Crater Rim, benefiting from cooler temperatures. Anticipate a hearty dinner to conclude your day, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences and wildlife encounters that have marked your adventure.
An early descend to the Crater is an advantage to this day. Upon your first glimpse of Ngorongoro Crater, you’ll feel as though you’ve entered a forgotten world. Hidden within its steep volcanic walls lies a pristine wilderness, showcasing sweeping savannahs, acacia woodlands, and shimmering lakes and swamps. Formed by the explosive collapse of a massive volcano two to three million years ago, the Crater is renowned for its geological wonders and is a natural reserve housing some of the densest populations of large mammals in all of Africa.
The descent into the Crater is an adventure in itself, and once you reach the floor, you’ll be surrounded by abundant wildlife, including vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle, as well as over 500 bird species. This unique ecosystem offers the best opportunity to spot the endangered black rhino, often seen roaming the open grasslands.
After enjoying a delightful picnic lunch within the Crater, you will make your way to your accommodation in Karatu, reflecting on the day’s remarkable experiences.
