Tour Overview

This safari has been designed specifically to focus and to increase the chance to see the great Serengeti Northern Serengeti Wildebeest Migration. We have designed the itinerary to include both Lobo area (area north of the central Serengeti National Park) and Wagakuria area (remote northern-Serengeti National Park). From mid-July to October, the migration heads north, out of the central Serengeti, splitting into two routes. The main group heads into the western corridor crossing Grumeti River in spectacular stampedes. Enormous crocodiles wait patiently to snatch wildebeests as they cross the river the wildebeests continue to move steadily across Grumeti region, making another perilous river crossing to cross the Mara River and reach the grazing in Kenya’s Maasai Mara.

After having breakfast on the second day your safarii, we head to the northern reach of the Serengeti, also known as the Kogatende. We will do a game drive and en-route from the Lobo area to the Wagakuria area. As we head north, good sightings of giraffe, plain game, herds of buffalo and elephants can be seen. We arrive in time of lunch, and after lunch we will enjoy an afternoon game drive in the area. The Serengeti wildebeest migration is normally found in the Wagakuria area around mid-July to October, depending on rainfall patterns. A long stretch of the Mara River runs through the north Serengeti and the Mara River gives the migration, most difficult obstacle. After taking breakfast, guests can drive all day in the Wagakuria region. The population of resident wildlife is particularly high in this part of the park, with numbers boasting up to 30 lions, however, from mid-July to October the area turns into a paradise wild animals. The key factor is the Mara River important river in the Serengeti Wildebeest Migration and it is not uncommon to see herds crossing the Mara River north one day and then back south a few days later. Be careful, finding a ramp is difficult and sometimes a matter of luck.

The Serengeti Migration mystery whereas herd can be seen next to the river and only decide whether to cross or not to pass a few days later. The area is a beautiful area with kopjes, woodlands, Riparian vegetation and open plains, similar to the Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya.

A balloon ride option is also available in this area with Serengeti Balloon Safaris. No words can conjure up the experience of hovering over Serengeti plains. Get a panoramic view of the park as you stand by the sun. The hot air balloon ride lasts about an hour after which passengers gather around a table, surrounded by the park’s lush plains, for an ‘Out of Africa’ English breakfast.

leopard resting

Your safari continues with morning and afternoon game drive in the Serengeti, followed by lunch and breaks at the lodge in the afternoon. The term Serengeti means endless plain in the Maasai language. Carnivores such as leopards, lions, hyenas and cheetahs live in the central plains. The park is usually the scene of annual wildebeest and zebra migrations between the Mara and Serengeti in Kenya. A variety of bird species can be seen here, including eagles, ducks, geese, herons, vultures, secretary birds, crested ibises, storks, egrets, kites, pelicans, cranes and guinea pigs.

Home to more than 3 million large mammals, Serengeti National Park is perhaps the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world and host the mighty Serengeti wildebeest migration. About 35 species of plains animals can be seen here, including the ‘Big 5 elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards and buffalo. Other commonly encountered species include hippos, giraffes, elands, impalas, other antelopes, baboons, monkeys and over 500 abundant bird species. In May or early June, large herds of wildebeest, gazelles and zebras begin their annual spectacular northward Serengeti migration Follow predators, lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, and vultures circle overhead.

After lunch, continue your animal watching in the Serengeti and drive to the Serengeti Gales to exit the Serengeti National Park. The game then continues on its way to the Ngorongoro Crater. Dinner and overnight on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.

hunting time

After breakfast descend to the crater for a 7+ hour game drive. Millions of years ago, a volcano the size of Mount Kilimanjaro erupted in the highlands of north Tanzania. Its eruption formed the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest non-flooding caldera. Now inactive and home to wildlife, the crater is a playground where you can go on a game drive in search of the Big Five. A 600 m (1,968 ft.) high crater wall, the Ngorongoro Crater Nature Reserve allows many species to thrive and is one of the most densely populated African wildlife sanctuaries in the world, with an estimated home to 30,000 animals, it’s the best place in Africa Tanzania to see the endangered black rhinoceros.

With a year-round supply of water and feed, the park supports a variety of animals including wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, eland, warthogs, hippos, and giant African elephants. Another major attraction of this scenic national park is its huge predator population, including the crater floor of lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard Game drive after picnic lunch. After game drive drive to Arusha/Moshi for overnight stay.
