Departing from Nairobi, this Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru safari takes you into Kenya’s Great Rift Valley and the Loita plains of the Masai people. Explore two of Kenya’s premier national game parks- – the Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru National Parks – on exciting game viewing drives on a five day adventure trip. The Maasai Mara is home to over 3 million animals and the great annual wildebeest migration that involves over one million wildebeests together with a quarter of a million zebras and gazelles, trekking from southern Serengeti to the Masai Mara. Lake Nakuru is an an important bird sanctuary known for its flamingos and hundreds of other birds as well as a sanctuary for rhinos and Rothschild giraffes.

Day by Day Overview
Head off from Nairobi at 8:00am travelling north westwards through the Great Rift Valley and into the valley floor. We will make a stopover at the Great Rift Valley view point to take in the majestic rift valley floor and the volcanic mountains and lakes. Drive on to the Mau escarpment and into the Loita plains of the Masai Mara.
Check into the lodge and enjoy a sumptuous buffet lunch. Enjoy an afternoon siesta until 4:00pm when its time for an evening game drive in the magnificent Mara. Enjoy a 2-hr game drive until dusk and return to the Sarova Camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Go on an early morning game drive at 6:00am to look out for the big five animals as well as other wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, gazelles, wildebeests, hyenas, cheetahs and many others in your early morning sojourn. Return to the camp and enjoy a buffet breakfast at 8:00am. Later depart for a full day game drive with packed lunch boxes. Enjoy the bush lunch by the Mara River as you watch the crocodiles and hippos at the river crossing. The wildebeest river crossing stampede is particularly and interesting event (depending on the time of year). Later return to the Sarova Camp for dinner and overnight.
Enjoy breakfast and then drive on a morning game drive until 10:00am. It’s time to depart the Masai Mara for Lake Nakuru National Park driving through the Loita plains back into the Great Rift Valley floor. Arrive at our lodge in Nakuru and check in. Enjoy a buffet lunch and go for a swim or an early afternoon siesta. Later enjoy a game drive in the afternoon until dusk. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Early morning game drive and return to the lodge for a fresh breakfast. Later go on for a final game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, in search of its diverse wildlife and numerous birds. This premium park has retained its reputation as an ornithologists delight, with over 400 species of bird found here including the great white pelican, African spoonbill, yellow-billed stork, lesser and greater flamingo and long-crested eagle. Lake Nakuru National Park is also known as an important wildlife sanctuary for some of Africa’s endangered species, especially black rhinos and Rothschild giraffes. The game reserve is also home to lions, waterbucks, buffalos, leopards and baboons, which you keep an eye out for on our game drive. You have dinner and overnight en-suite rooms at a comfortable lodge near Lake Nakuru.
This final day, we will depart Lake Nakuru for Nairobi. We will enjoy an early lunch at Naivasha en route to Nairobi. Drop off at your Nairobi hotel or the JKIA for your onward flight.
