Depending on your location in Entebbe/Kampala on the first day, you will be welcomed by our driver/guide who will give you a brief insight into the safari before you start your journey to Kibale Forest National Park. On the way you will have lunch en-route and enjoy stunning views of traditional homesteads, local people, tea plantations, beautiful sceneries, views of the Rwenzori mountains and crater lakes along the way. Upon arrival in the park you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
After an early morning breakfast on day two of the five days safari, your driver guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be grouped into 6 people allocated to a chimpanzee family to trek and a park guide who will lead you into the forest for the trek. Chimpanzee trekking is an interesting activity that starts at 8:00am and take about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they like to move from one place to another in search for food especially the dry season.
During the trekking you will be able to see other primates like the red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, and vervet monkeys, as well as view some bird species, mammals, and plant species. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn about their behaviors, habits, watch them feed, fight, play, hunt, mate while you take photos and record the moments. After the one hour with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet your driver guide and transfer back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will go for an interesting Bigodi swamp walk where you be able to view different primates, bird species, plant and tree species. After the swamp walk, you will go to back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast on day three, you will check out of the lodge and meet with your driver guide. Then begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. On the way you will have lunch en-route and then continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Wake up very early in the morning for breakfast on day four of the five days safari and meet with your driver guide with a packed lunch to transfer to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefing. You will be briefed about the safety guidelines and allocated guides and groups for trekking gorillas. Setting off is at exactly 8:00am, the ranger guides make sure everyone has packed lunch, enough drinking water, comfortable safe shoes and a porter (if needed) to help carry your backpack so you can comfortably enjoy your gorilla trekking experience.
Observing and photographing the gentle giants (mountain gorillas) is so breathtaking. You are literally looking at creatures so human in every aspect. Be prepared as trekking of the mountain gorillas may take anything from 1 hour to 7 hours depending on where your allocated gorilla family may be at. After trekking gorillas, return to the lodge and have a relaxed evening or a walk to the pygmy families on the outskirts of the forest. Have dinner and overnight at the lodge.
On the last day of the five days safari, have breakfast early morning and embark on your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. On the way you will have a stop-over in Mbarara city for en-route lunch then proceed with another stop-over at the Equator in Kayabwe to take photos, buy souvenirs and find out more about the equator.
