5-Day South Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, we embark on our journey to the far southern reaches of Serengeti National Park, known as Ndutu. Located within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the Lake Ndutu region is a vital part of the southern Serengeti ecosystem. This alkaline lake, typical of the Rift Valley, provides drinkable water for a diverse array of local wildlife. From December to April, the short-grass plains here come alive with the majestic wildebeest migration, while the area is also home to abundant elephants, vibrant birdlife, and resident game. As we explore this rich environment, you’ll witness the incredible interactions between the wildlife that inhabit this stunning landscape. After a delicious lunch, we’ll embark on an extensive game drive, soaking in the breathtaking sights and sounds of the wild. In the evening, we’ll return to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay. You will enjoy two nights in Ndutu, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in this remarkable wilderness.

In the early morning, we’ll continue our scenic drive through the South Serengeti National Park before making our way to the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater. As you approach, the Crater appears like a hidden world, enveloped by steep volcanic walls that shelter a pristine wilderness of sweeping savannahs, acacia woodlands, and shimmering lakes and swamps. Formed two to three million years ago when a colossal volcano erupted and collapsed, Ngorongoro Crater is renowned for its geological wonders and as a natural reserve teeming with some of the densest populations of large mammals in Africa. This unique ecosystem offers an excellent opportunity to spot the endangered black rhino, often seen grazing in the open grasslands. After a delicious lunch, we’ll embark on an extensive game drive within the Crater, immersing ourselves in the breathtaking scenery and incredible wildlife. In the evening, we’ll head to our comfortable partner lodges in Karatu for dinner and a restful overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, we set off for Arusha, en route to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home. Along the way, we’ll stop at some cultural sites, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local heritage. You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch and perhaps pick up a few souvenirs to remember your unforgettable safari adventure.
