Day by Day Overview

First day you arrive at Nyamsika Campsite afternoon/early evening, welcomed with freshly made juice, followed by a briefing about the campsite, security, and itinerary. We serve a 3-course dinner freshly cooked at the site by the chef. A fireplace is set up after dinner.

Optional: Short walk in the vicinity (1-2 hours), followed by a sundowner at Nyamsika Viewpoint with superb views.

The Camp: Accommodation in comfortable 3 x 3 meters canvas tents, with a private veranda, comfortable custom-made mattresses, beddings, toiletries, towels, mirror and wash basin for each tent, solar lights. The camp has resting areas with two pavilions, chairs, and complimentary daily snacks (tea, coffee, water, and juice). Other amenities include a shared shower and toilet, hammocks, and a library with books and maps about nature, wildlife, and games. Solar system powers lights and fridges for our bush bar to welcome you with cold drinks. Professional staff presence for all your needs throughout your stay.

Early breakfast at 6:30 am followed by a morning walk toward Te Okot (3-3.5 hrs). The terrain is quite open and slightly more hilly with some gullies and some Borassus palms. It’s a good chance to see some groups of elephants, and a variety of antelopes, including signs/footprints of predators. Early lunch around noon, followed by a siesta to relax and soak in the wilderness. Afternoon game drive to visit another park area, or another shorter walk around the camp and Nyamsika riverbed at 4-5 pm, followed by a superb sunset view.

Option 1. Morning transfer for the boat ride combined with a visit to the Murchison Falls. The first part of the trip is the boat ride (1.5-2 hrs) on the River Nile, observing hippos, crocodiles, plentiful bird life, and other wildlife along the shore. The boat ride ends at the bottom of the falls, where we begin a short 45 hike to the top of the Falls with spectacular views of both Murchison and Uhuru Falls. Return to camp around 1-2 pm for lunch, followed by rest. Afternoon shorter walk (2 hrs) around Nyamsika in the dry riverbed.

Option 2. The alternative is a longer morning walk to the River Nile (4-5 hrs). We recommend wearing sandals for wading through shallow warm water. A variety of wildlife from buffaloes, kobs, hartebeest, and elephants frequents this riverbed; and an occasional hyena. Lots of footprints to observe. The boat will wait for us at the end of the walk to continue to the bottom of the Falls. Packed lunch on the boat. Return to the camp late afternoon to rest.

Morning spectacular walk around Nyamsika riverbed (1.5-2 hrs) upstream depending on the itinerary. Excellent opportunity again to observe wildlife near the semi-dry riverbed and look for predator footprints (leopard, hyena, lion). Black colobus monkeys and baboons are also home along this river. Bush breakfast at a viewpoint and transfer of guests to the airstrip or other destination.
