Day by Day Overview
After breakfast we will collect you from your hotel and drive along a scenic route to Tarangire National Park. The beauty of the park will offer you unparalleled game viewing and makes a visit to Tarangire a memorable experience. During the dry season elephants abound, see ancient trunks of baobab trees, breathtaking views of the Masai steppe and mountains in the south, watch zebra, buffalo and oryx which venture from the Masai Mara to Tarangire in search of water, search for lions prowling around looking for unsuspecting prey and look out for breeding species of birds, there are more found in Tarangire National Park than anywhere else in the world. Enjoy your lunch while viewing the Tarangire River that crosses the park.
Dinner and overnight stay at campsite/lodge
Following breakfast proceed with a game drive in an open-roof vehicle. Leave Tarangire National Park and head to the endless plains of the Serengeti. The Serengeti National Park is home to the annual great migration and due to its biodiversity and ecological significance, the park has been listed by the United Nations as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Maasai people had been grazing their livestock in the Serengeti, which they named ‘Open Plains’, when the first European explorer, Austrian Oscar Bauman, visited the area in 1892. In the afternoon you reach your overnight destination.
Dinner and overnight at campsite
Enjoy a morning game drive in the Serengeti National Park, where the three biggest cats can be seen: lions might be found on a kill, cheetahs are are seen in the south eastern plains while leopard can be found lazing in big trees along the Seronera River. Great herds of buffalo, small groups of elephant and giraffe and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle are resident in the Serengeti at any time of the year. After lunch, drive in the direction of the Ngorongoro Crater – as soon as you reach the edge of the crater, you will have a remarkable view of this impressive natural wonder.
Dinner and overnight stay at campsite
After a delicious early morning coffee head off on a game drive and enjoy a thrilling game drive. An estimated 7,000 wildebeest, 4,000 zebra, 3,000 eland, 3,000 gazelle, 600 hyena, 200-300 elephant, over 60 lion, 30 rhino and many other animals, in all over 25,000 wild creatures, call the Ngorongoro Crater home. For bird lovers, within this caldera you will find 500 bird species including ostrich, kori bustard, secretary bird and many others. Visit from November to April and witness the myriad pf migratory birds that take up residence here. Indigenous tribes are permitted to live in the conservation area and local Masai graze their livestock in the crater floor in harmony with nearby herds of buffalo and wildebeest. Lunch will be enjoyed en-route before the drive back to Arusha later.
