Why Visit the Masai Mara?
- The Great Migration
Every year from July to October, over 1.5 million wildebeest, accompanied by zebras and gazelles, thunder across the plains from Tanzania’s Serengeti into the Mara. Witnessing thousands of animals crossing the Mara River, where crocodiles and predators lie in wait, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. - Exceptional Wildlife Viewing
The Mara offers one of the highest densities of wildlife in the world. Spot the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—along with cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, hippos, and over 450 bird species. Whether it’s a lion hunt or a peaceful elephant herd, each game drive is unforgettable. - Iconic African Landscapes
Rolling savannahs, golden grasslands, and acacia-dotted plains stretch as far as the eye can see. The Mara River, home to hippos and crocodiles, winds through this pristine wilderness, providing life to the ecosystem and dramatic backdrops for wildlife encounters. - Cultural Encounters
Visit a traditional Masai village and learn about the customs, clothing, and lifestyle of the Masai people, the land’s original guardians. Many lodges and conservancies work hand-in-hand with local communities to promote sustainable tourism and cultural exchange.
