Day by Day Overview
Your All Wheels Experience safari guide will pick you up from your accommodation after breakfast, ready to begin your thrilling adventure. Today, you will head to the renowned Tarangire National Park, a scenic two-and-a-half-hour drive along well-maintained roads.
Named after the Tarangire River, the park is a haven for wildlife, especially during the dry season, when it serves as the primary water source for the region. Be on the lookout for large elephant families gathering at the riverbanks, as well as giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeest. The park is also home to predators like lions and leopards, as well as boasting the highest diversity of breeding bird species anywhere in the world. Marvel at the iconic ancient Baobab trees, many of which are believed to be over a thousand years old.
Enjoy a delightful picnic lunch inside the park as you soak in the beauty of Tarangire. After your game drive, you will head towards Karatu for a relaxing evening at your accommodation, capping off an incredible first day of your safari adventure!
After a hearty breakfast, you will set off towards the cooler, misty heights of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where one of the most spectacular natural wonders awaits. As you approach the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, it feels like stepping into a forgotten world. Surrounded by steep volcanic walls, this hidden paradise spans an impressive 260 km², encompassing sweeping savannahs, shimmering lakes, lush acacia woodlands, and flourishing swamps.
Formed when a massive volcano collapsed in on itself two to three million years ago, the Crater is renowned for its breathtaking geological formations and is a haven for some of Africa’s densest large mammal populations. As you descend into the Crater’s floor, you’ll encounter vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle, along with over 500 bird species filling the sky. This is also your best chance to catch a glimpse of the endangered black rhino, a rare and thrilling sight.
Enjoy a scenic picnic lunch amidst the Crater’s wildlife, surrounded by the sights and sounds of this rich ecosystem. After your unforgettable game drive, you’ll make your way back to your accommodation in Karatu, reflecting on the wonders you’ve witnessed during this incredible day.
After breakfast, you’ll embark on your final safari adventure at Lake Manyara National Park, a hidden gem located 120km west of Arusha. This small yet diverse park showcases stunning contrasts in both its landscape and wildlife. Despite being one of the narrowest parks in Africa, Lake Manyara offers an epic visual experience, as the towering Great Rift Escarpment frames the park’s western edge.
At the heart of the park lies Lake Manyara, a shallow, alkaline lake that fluctuates with the seasons, attracting thousands of wading birds. The vibrant colors of flamingos paint the shores, and over 500 bird species can be spotted here, making it a paradise for bird lovers. In the park’s thick, evergreen forest, you might encounter playful baboons and majestic elephants, and don’t forget to keep an eye out for the famous tree-climbing lions, a rare and exciting sight.
Enjoy a picturesque picnic lunch amidst this beautiful setting. After your game drive, it will be time to say farewell to your guide, as you’re driven to your onward destination—whether it’s Arusha, Kilimanjaro Airport, or Arusha Airport. We hope your time with All Wheels Experience has filled you with unforgettable memories of Tanzania’s incredible wildlife and landscapes!
