Tanzania’s hidden gem in the south, Selous Game Reserve, is the largest protected game reserve on the African continent, twice the size of the Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania and three times Kruger National Park in South Africa. It covers an area of 54,600 square kilometers: vast wilderness with forests, grassy plains, mountains and open woodlands. The reserve was originally named after Frederick Selous Courtney who was a great hunter and explorer, and has been renamed Nyerere National Park, in honour of President Julius Nyerere, Tanzania’s first president.

Day by Day Overview
You will be picked up early by our guide from the hotel, ferry or airport in Dar es Salaam for the drive to Selous/Nyerere National Park, which takes almost six hours. Arrive in Selous for lunch. Later join a river boat safari until sundown. Return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast depart for a full day game drive with packed lunch boxes in Selous/Nyerere National Park. You will stop at lunch time and enjoy lunch at a picnic site that will selected by guide. Afterwards relax for at least 45 minutes. Later continue with the game drive until sunset. Return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Enjoy an early morning walking safari with bushman for two hours. Head back to the lodge for breakfast then depart for the journey back to Dar es Salaam for drop off at the ferry, airport or hotel.
