Day by Day Overview
Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your accommodation in Dar es Salaam. Sit back and enjoy the scenic drive to Mikumi National Park, passing through vibrant villages and stunning landscapes. Upon arrival in the Mikumi area, you’ll visit a local Maasai village to experience the rich culture and traditions of the Maasai people. You’ll learn about their way of life, unique customs, and vibrant dances while gaining insight into their deep connection with nature and the surrounding wildlife. After this cultural experience, you’ll head to your lodge near the park, where you can relax and enjoy the serene environment as you prepare for an exciting safari the following day.
Rise and shine! Today you’ll have a whole day of wildlife watching waiting for you. After a delicious breakfast at the lodge, you’ll start your day full of nature and wildlife. Between 6:00-8:00 am, you will head to the park. Your game drive will start right away! Not a morning person? No problem! You can decide the start and end time of your safari yourself.
Between 12:00-2:00 pm, you will have a hot lunch at the restaurant inside the park or you will have a picnic in the park. If you want to take a big tour, we suggest you opt for a lunch box so you can go far from the entrance. If you prefer a hot lunch, you can opt for lunch at the park’s restaurant at no extra cost!
Around 5:30 pm, you’ll start your journey back to the lodge where you can get some rest after a busy day! You will sleep in a chalet at Camp Bastian. If you wish to end your game drive a little earlier to enjoy the lodge’s facilities, that’s possible!
Unfortunately, your Mikumi adventure is over. At around 10:00 am, you’ll head back to Dar es Salaam. The wildlife watching is not completely over. Keep your eyes out for more wildlife on the way back, you might spot a giraffe waving you goodbye! After about 6 hours of driving, you’ll arrive at your accommodation in Dar es Salaam.
If you plan on taking the ferry to Zanzibar or have your international flight back home, make sure to inform us of your time of departure so we can plan your return on time!
