Day by Day Overview
Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel, residence, or Kilimanjaro International Airport. You will be warmly welcomed by your professional English-speaking driver-guide, who will provide a short briefing before departure. You will depart in a budget 4×4 safari vehicle, traveling through the scenic Maasai steppe, enjoying the beautiful landscapes and rural villages on the way. The drive takes you to Tarangire National Park, which is home to one of East Africa’s largest elephant populations.
Upon entering the park, you will begin your first game drive, exploring the rolling savannahs, acacia woodlands, and iconic baobab-dotted landscapes. Keep your eyes open for lions resting in the shade, zebras grazing, wildebeests moving in herds, giraffes browsing treetops, and a multitude of colorful bird species. You will enjoy a picnic lunch within the park, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness. After lunch, you will continue your afternoon game drive, maximizing opportunities for wildlife sightings and photography.
Later in the afternoon, you will drive to Fanaka Safari Camp, where your budget camping tents are pre-set with sleeping mats, clean bedding, and shared bathroom facilities. In the evening, you will enjoy dinner around the campfire, sharing stories of the day’s adventure under the starlit African sky.

After enjoying an early breakfast at the camp, you will depart for the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The crater is a spectacular natural amphitheater teeming with wildlife and offers one of the highest densities of large animals in Africa. Upon descending to the crater floor, you will embark on a full-day game drive, encountering a remarkable diversity of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, black rhinos, zebras, and wildebeests. The landscape includes open grasslands, forest patches, and a soda lake, all set against breathtaking highland scenery.
You will enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated scenic spot within the crater, allowing time to relax while observing the surrounding wildlife. In the afternoon, you will continue your exploration of the crater, discovering more of its unique ecosystem before ascending to the Ngorongoro Highlands. You will then arrive at Fanaka Safari Camp, where you will enjoy budget-friendly camping accommodation, dinner, and a peaceful night surrounded by the natural sounds of the African wilderness.

You will spend the morning on a full-day game drive, exploring the park’s diverse ecosystems, which range from alkaline soda lakes to lush groundwater forests. There will be plenty of opportunities for photography, wildlife observation, and birdwatching. A picnic lunch will be served within the park, allowing you to enjoy the sights and sounds of the surrounding wildlife before starting your journey back to Arusha.
In the late afternoon, you will be dropped off at your hotel, residence, or Kilimanjaro International Airport, concluding your 3-day budget camping safari with unforgettable memories of Tanzania’s wildlife and landscapes.
