Day by Day Overview

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by a Herbivore African Expeditions representative and transferred to the Maasai Land Hotel. Here you can relax and unwind after your flight as you await the start of your adventure.

Your first destination will be Tarangire National Park, which according to Masai legend is the place where life began. You are likely to see big herds of elephants feeding under baobab trees or cooling off at the watering hole. After a full day of exploring, you can enjoy your first dinner in the bush and reflect on your day in the park.

Overnight at the campsite/public campsite

An early start for a morning game drive gives you the opportunity to soak up the sounds and smells of the waking African bush. Soon after you will be heading to one of the most famous parks in Africa, the Serengeti National Park. During the migration season, you can expect to see millions of wildebeest and thousands of zebra as they make their way across the vast, open plains.

Overnight at the campsite/public campsite

A full day of exploring the Serengeti promises to deliver many sightings. Your luck could deliver cheetah, giraffe and hippo amongst others. During the heat of the day, look forward to searching for the perfect setting for the wildest picnic of your life.

Overnight at campsite/public campsite

Another early start in search of wildlife before the day heats up. After a few hours of game viewing in the Serengeti, you will make your way to the Ngorongoro Crater.

Overnight at Simba public campsite

The day will begin by descending into the Ngorongoro Crater, often refereed to as Africa’s ‘Garden of Eden’.  The unique crater walls give you the opportunity to see large amounts of diverse game. Rhino in particular are regularly seen. Lunch by the hippo pond is a perfect break before the drive back along the rim of the crater as you take in the vast wilderness that stretches out below you.

Overnight at Simba public campsite

The day begins with an early morning drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a half day of game viewing. The lake attracts hundreds of bird species; flamingo, pelican, grebe, geese and other water-loving birds, all of which you can expect to see. Baboon, monkey and warthog are also common sights as you enter the park. A slow afternoon drive will then take you back to Kilimanjaro International Airport to catch your flight home.
