The 12 Days Uganda Customised Safari takes you on an unforgettable adventure in Uganda’s top destinations. You will visit Murchison Falls National Park “the strongest waterfall in the world”, Kibale Forest National Park “the Primates Capital”, Queen Elizabeth National Park “Medley of Wonders”, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park “Mountain Gorilla Sanctuary”, Lake Mburo National Park “Whispers of the Wild” and Lake Bunyonyi “a place of many birds”. During this safari, you will look out for the big 5 game as well as gorillas, chimpanzees, zebras, impalas, warthogs, baboons, monkeys, topis and more. For bird enthusiasts, you will spot different bird species in different destinations such as handsome francolin, red throated bee eater, marital eagle, black bee eaters, bare chested go away bird, rare shoebill stock and marabou stork. The safari offers many activities to engage in for example boat cruises, game drives, birding, horse rides and community visits where you will encounter the cultural diversity within the Pearl of Africa, learn about their ways of life among others. Day by Day Overview

Day 1 will start with arrival and pick from Entebbe International Airport by our driver guide from African Sacred Ibis Adventures who will brief you about your safari. Your driver guide will transfer you to your hotel in Kampala. Depending on your arrival time, you will do a city tour in Kampala if time allows. You will visit the Kabaka’s Palace, Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, Nakasero Market, and Ndeere Cultural Center etc. Dinner and overnight stay.

After a delicious breakfast on day 2, you’ll embark on a journey to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you will have an hour of rhino tracking. Thereafter, you will have a stopover in Masindi for lunch. Upon arrival in the park, you will check in your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 of the safari will start with an early breakfast at your lodge then embark on a game drive to explore the northern part of the park. During the game drive, you will encounter different wildlife species such as elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, zebras, warthogs, antelopes, leopards and a plethora of tropical birds. You will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation as you wait for your next activity.

Later in the afternoon, you will embark on a boat cruise along the Nile River to Murchison Falls. As you cruise, keep an eye out for crocodiles, numerous hippos, buffaloes, waterfowl, monkeys, that come around the water source. You can take many photos and ask as many questions as possible. After this interesting activity, you will return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Wake up early in the morning for a hot breakfast on day 4 of the safari. You will check out of the lodge and embark on a hike to the top of the Falls. The Nile River is about 50 meters wide on top just before the falls, it drops down 43 meters through a 7-meter-wide gorge. The thunderous noise made by the water as it passes through the tiny hole is marvelous. Later, you’ll transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. Upon arrival, you will check in the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, you will explore Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. A guided visit to the sanctuary offers a unique opportunity to witness a variety of bird species, colorful butterflies and monkeys in their natural habitat. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Today you will rise to the sounds of the birds singing in the sky. After breakfast, you will be taken to the starting point of chimpanzee trekking where you will meet with a ranger guide to brief you about the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking. Thereafter, you will go into the forest for 2-4 hours searching for chimpanzees depending on their location. Once you locate a chimpanzee family, you will spend a maximum of 1 hour with these close cousins of ours. You will learn about their behaviors, how they feed and protect themselves, ask all questions and take as many pictures as possible. After having beautiful moments with our relatives, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for dinner and overnight stay.

Wake up early in the morning on day 6 for a hearty breakfast. Proceed for an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains. While on the drive, you will sight Cape buffalos, herds of elephants, lions, and leopards among others. There is a rich birdlife such as marital eagles, African fin foot, African skimmer and lesser flamingos among others.  You will go back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Later in the afternoon, you will go for a 2 hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel that connects Lakes George and Edward. During the trip, you will encounter giant hippos, elephants and crocodiles among others. You will also see many varieties of birds at the water shores. After the boat trip, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Wake up early with a delicious breakfast, pack your bags and check out of your lodge embark on a drive to Ishasha sector in search for tree climbing lions and other species such as elephants, Cape buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs and more. Have a short break lunch and later drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, the home to the endangered mountain gorillas. On arrival, you will check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Today after having your breakfast, you will prepare yourself in appropriate clothing and get ready for gorilla trekking. You will be transferred to the park’s center for a briefing about the dos and don’ts by a ranger guide. Afterwards you will enter the forest in search of the mountain gorillas. The trek takes 1-5 hours depending on their location. You’ll also encounter other animals, bird species, butterfly species and plant species in the forest. Once you locate a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savored. You will learn about their behavior, how they feed, communicate etc. After this experience, you will return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation.

Later in the afternoon, you will visit the Batwa pygmies who were the original inhabitants of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest before they were relocated outside the park to pave way for mountain gorilla. You will participate in the traditional dance, learn about their ways of living, how they used to hunt small animals for food, their gathering skills, demonstrate how they make fire etc. Dinner and overnight stay.

On this day, have breakfast at your lodge and then get ready to exit the park. Your driver guide will pick you and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is framed by lush, green-terraced hills and 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that make it most magical. These islands have unique stories to tell. Dinner and overnight stay.

The day starts with a relaxing breakfast at the lodge with stunning views and birds singing in the sky. You will embark on a canoe trip on Lake Bunyonyi, when you will sight different bird species. Visit Punishment Island where unmarried pregnant girls were dumped in the past. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation and swimming. Dinner and overnight stay.

Have breakfast and set off to Lake Mburo via Mbarara City. You will arrive at the park and check in the lodge for lunch and have some rest. Later you will go on a game drive in the park where you will see antelopes, zebras, topi, impalas, Uganda kobs and Cape buffalos among others. You will return back to lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Enjoy your early breakfast and proceed for a morning walking safari in the park in the presence of an armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guide. On this early morning guided walk, you will have the opportunity to encounter Cape buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, elands, topis and other antelope. Take the trail to the top of the hills and see Lake Mburo and beyond. From this vantage point, you will have a great view of nine of the twelve lakes surrounding Lake Mburo. Thereafter, return to the accommodation for checkout and then hit the road to Entebbe airport.
