Day by Day Overview
Your journey begins with a morning flight from Zanzibar to Arusha. Upon arrival, drive toward the lush foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro to visit Materuni Waterfalls. Enjoy a guided hike through banana and coffee farms, learn traditional coffee-making, and swim in the refreshing waterfall pool. Later, head to Kikuletwa Hot Springs, a hidden oasis with crystal-clear, warm water perfect for relaxing after travel. Return to Arusha for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its giant baobab trees and large elephant populations. The Tarangire River attracts diverse wildlife, especially during the dry season. Expect to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest as well as predators like lions. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park and an afternoon game drive before heading to your lodge.
Depart early and travel through the scenic Ngorongoro highlands, with views of local Maasai villages. Continue to Serengeti National Park, one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations. Arrive for an afternoon game drive across endless plains teeming with wildlife. This is prime territory for big cats such as lions, cheetahs and leopards.
Spend a full day exploring Serengeti’s vast ecosystem. Early morning and late afternoon game drives offer the best chances to witness active predators. Depending on the season, you may see the Great Migration – thousands of wildebeest and zebras moving across the plains. This day allows deeper exploration of different regions within the park.
Enjoy a final morning game drive in Serengeti before heading toward Ngorongoro Crater. Along the way, wildlife sightings continue as you transition into the highlands. Arrive at the crater rim, where breathtaking panoramic views await. Overnight at a lodge near the crater.
Descend early into the crater for a half-day safari. This UNESCO-listed area is home to a dense concentration of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos, and flamingos. After lunch, proceed to Lake Manyara National Park, famous for tree-climbing lions, lush forests, and diverse birdlife. Enjoy an afternoon game drive.
Start the day with a cultural tour in Mto wa Mbu. Walk through local farms, interact with artisans, taste traditional Tanzanian dishes, and learn about the village’s diverse tribes. After the experience, transfer back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight to Zanzibar, marking the end of your unforgettable safari.
