This is an extraordinary safari that starts and ends in Kampala. The safari will take you to Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. During the safari you will be able to view species of animals such as elephants, buffaloes, lions, Jackson’s hartebeests, giraffes, zebra, elands, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, oribi, rhinos, among others, during the game drives and boat cruise as well as spend time with the endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees in their natural habitat.

Day by Day Overview

Depending on your location on day one of the safari, our driver guide will welcome you and brief you about the safari before starting the journey to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. You will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for rhino tracking. Then continue the journey, with lunch en route, through beautiful landscape, homesteads, and local people. Upon arrival in Murchison Falls National Park you will check into the hotel/lodge for a refreshment before embarking on a hike to the top of the Falls where you will view the roaring water, take some pictures and enjoy the scenery. Dinner and overnight stay.

Accommodation Option: Pakuba Safari Lodge or Similar

Have an early morning breakfast then your driver guide will pick you up to go for a morning delta drive where you will able to see animals like warthogs, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kobs, zebras, Patas monkeys, baboons, elephants and others grazing in the open savannah plains. View predators like lions, hyena and leopards, before they go back to their hiding areas, view different birds among others. After the game drive you will head back to the lodge for lunch.

Later in the Afternoon, you will drive to Parra jetty landing site for an exciting boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. During the boat ride which takes about 2 hours you will have spectacular views of the beautiful scenery, hippos, and Nile crocodiles in water, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, antelopes, along the shores, water birds like the kingfishers, bee-eaters, cormorants, and fish eagles among others. After the boat cruise you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Accommodation Option: Pakuba Safari Lodge or Similar

After breakfast on day three, you will check out of the lodge and your driver guide will start the journey to Kibale National Park in Western Uganda. It’s a whole day’s journey and on the way you will have en-route lunch. Take in stunning views of the traditional homesteads, local people, and beautiful scenery –  views of Rwenzori Mountains, crater lakes, and tea plantations. Upon arrival in the park you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Accommodation Option: Kibale Forest Camp or Similar

After an early morning breakfast, your driver guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be grouped into 6 people allocated to a chimpanzee family to trek and a park guide who will lead you into the forest for the trekking. Chimpanzee trekking is an interesting activity that starts at 8:00am and take about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they like to move from one place to another in search for food, especially the dry season.

During the trekking you will be able to see other primates like the red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, and vervet monkeys, as well as bird species, mammals, and plant species. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn about their behaviors, habits, watch them feed, fight, play, hunt and mate. Take photos and record the moments. After the one hour with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet your driver guide and transfer back to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch you will go for an interesting Bigodi swamp walk where you be able to view different primates, bird species, plant and tree species. After the swamp walk, you will go to back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Accommodation Option: Kibale Forest Camp or Similar

After an early breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and meet with your driver guide and thereafter begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. On the way you will have lunch en-route and then continue the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Accommodation Option: Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge or Similar

Wake up very early in the morning for breakfast on day six and meet with your driver guide with packed lunch to transfer to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefing. You will be briefed about the safety guidelines and allocated guides and groups for trekking gorillas. Set off is at exactly 8:00am, the ranger guides make sure everyone has packed lunch, enough drinking water, comfortable safe shoes and a porter (if needed) to help carry your backpack so you can comfortably enjoy your gorilla trekking experience.

Observing and photographing the gentle giants (mountain gorillas) is so breathtaking. You are literally looking at creatures so human in every aspect. Be prepared as trekking of the mountain gorillas may take 1 hour to 7 hours depending on where your allocated gorilla family may be at. After trekking gorillas, return to the lodge and have a relaxed evening or a walk to the pygmy families on the outskirts of the forest. Have dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Accommodation Option: Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge or Similar

On the last day of the safari, have breakfast early in the morning and embark on your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. On the way you will have a stop-over in Mbarara city for en-route lunch then proceed with another stop-over at the Equator in Kayabwe to take photos, buy souvenirs and get facts about the equator. You will then continue to Kampala or drop off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop you off at any place of your convenience.
