Embark on a captivating 3-day safari adventure during the wildebeest calving season in Tanzania’s Southern Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Starting with a scenic drive from Arusha to Ndutu, spend your second day immersed in Ndutu’s unique wildlife activity. On the final day, visit the Ngorongoro Crater before returning to Arusha, filled with unforgettable memories. This safari is available from early December to the end of March.

Day by Day Overview
An early morning pick-up in Arusha as you start your journey with a scenic drive from Arusha to the Ndutu region (approximately 5–6 hours), where the wildebeest calving season takes place. After settling in at Lake Ndutu Safari Lodge, head out for your first game drive. This area is particularly vibrant during the calving season, as thousands of wildebeest and zebras gather, providing a feast for predators like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Enjoy a peaceful evening at the lodge, with comfortable accommodations and a delicious dinner.

Today you will spend the entire day exploring the Ndutu plains, immersing yourself in the heart of the wildebeest migration. Witness hundreds of wildebeest calves born each day and observe predators in action as they take advantage of the abundance of prey. As you will have carried your picnic lunches then you will enjoy a lunch in the bush, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the Serengeti. After a full day of exploration, return to Lake Ndutu Safari Lodge to relax and recharge for the next day’s adventure.

After an early breakfast you will drive to the Ngorongoro Crater (approximately 2 hours). You will begin to descend into this spectacular volcanic caldera, home to an extraordinary density of wildlife including elephants, lions, black rhinos, and an array of birdlife. The lush crater floor provides a stark contrast to the open plains of Ndutu, giving you a well rounded safari experience. Take a break for lunch amid the stunning scenery the crater floor. After your safari in the crater, begin the drive back to Arusha, arriving in the evening where you’ll be dropped off at the airport or hotel. This marks the end of our adventure together for now.
