Spend your first night at Arusha Planet Lodge, nestled in the heart of the city, where you can unwind and soak in the stunning natural beauty of the Tanzanian landscape. In the morning, our personal safari guide will pick you up from your lodgings in Arusha, and we’ll embark on an exciting journey to Tarangire National Park. As we travel along well-paved roads through the gently rolling Maasai plains, you’ll be captivated by the sight of local Maasai in their vibrant attire, walking alongside the road, riding bicycles, herding cattle, and driving donkey carts.
Tarangire National Park is renowned for its large herds of elephants, but it also boasts a rich diversity of wildlife. From the open roof of our state-of-the-art safari jeep, you’ll explore seasonal swamps, vast savannahs, and the vital Tarangire River. Keep your eyes peeled for a variety of creatures, including zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, elephants, and giraffes. With a bit of luck, you may even spot lions stalking their prey or leopards lounging in the trees above.
After a thrilling day filled with unforgettable sights and sounds of the wilderness, we’ll head to your accommodation for a delicious dinner and a restful overnight stay.
After a delicious breakfast, we’ll set off towards the Lake Ndutu region, nestled within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area—an enchanting part of the southern Serengeti ecosystem. The drive takes approximately three hours, guiding you through the stunning landscapes of the Rift Valley, where Lake Ndutu, an alkaline body of water, teems with diverse wildlife.
Once we arrive and settle in, we’ll embark on an exciting game drive in the Ndutu region. From December to April, this area is known for hosting the majority of the wildebeest migration, as the herds spread across the short-grass plains. Witness the thrilling spectacle of nature as you encounter these magnificent animals in their natural habitat.
After a captivating afternoon of wildlife viewing, we’ll head to your accommodation for a delightful dinner and a restful overnight stay, reflecting on the day’s incredible experiences.
After a hearty breakfast, we’ll embark on a full day of thrilling game drives in the Ndutu region. This diverse habitat features swamps, woodlands, soda lakes, and the iconic Serengeti short grass plains, providing a stunning backdrop for our wildlife adventures.
As we explore, prepare to be amazed by the sight of massive herds of wildebeests and zebras. In January, a remarkable event occurs—over a three-week period, nearly half a million wildebeest calves are born in a synchronized birthing spectacle. The open grasslands offer little cover, allowing the young calves to stand and run within minutes of birth, and by three days old, they’re typically strong enough to keep pace with the herd.
As our exhilarating day on the ‘Endless Plain’ draws to a close, we’ll return to your accommodation for a delicious dinner and a restful overnight stay, cherishing the memories of an unforgettable day in the heart of nature.
After breakfast, we’ll set out for an en-route game drive through the stunning Serengeti, keeping our fingers crossed for a chance to spot all of the “Big Five” as we journey across the ‘Endless Plain’ towards the Ngorongoro Crater. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, formed millions of years ago by the eruption of a volcano once taller than Kilimanjaro, boasts a depth of 610 meters and spans approximately 304 square kilometers. With around 25,000 ungulates residing within its borders, the Crater is renowned for its exceptional game viewing.
We’ll arrive at the Crater rim before lunch, where you can take in the breathtaking views of the vast landscape that unfolds before us. After capturing these stunning vistas in your memory and on your camera, we’ll descend the bumpy winding track to the Crater floor. Almost immediately, we’ll begin spotting wildlife, including wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, and elephants. If we’re lucky, we might even catch a glimpse of the elusive black rhino hidden among the grass.
Following a delightful lunch and an exciting afternoon of exploration within the Crater, we’ll make our way to our partner midrange lodge in Karatu for a well-deserved dinner and a restful overnight stay.
After breakfast, we’ll set off for our last destination on this incredible safari—Lake Manyara National Park, located just 120 kilometers west of Arusha. This relatively small yet diverse park is named after the shallow salt lake that covers about seventy percent of its area, which fluctuates with the seasons. Home to thousands of flamingos and an impressive array of around 500 other bird species, the park is a haven for nature lovers.
As we explore the park, we’ll encounter a variety of wildlife, including monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, and elephants. With a bit of luck, we might also spot lions lounging in the trees. Lake Manyara is celebrated for its diverse landscapes, featuring open grassy plains, primate-filled woodlands, and cliffs dotted with iconic baobab trees.
After a delightful lunch, we’ll begin our journey back to Arusha, arriving late in the afternoon. As our adventure comes to a close, you’ll carry the unforgettable sights and sounds of wild East Africa with you, enriching your life’s journey with memories of this extraordinary experience.
