Tour Overview

This safari starts and finishes in Zanzibar, a great option if you’re staying on Zanzibar and would like to experience two of Tanzania’s top wildlife spots. Visit Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact crater and also one of the largest extinct craters in the world with a spectacular concentration of wildlife living here. The Big Five can also be seen during a safari around the crater; lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards and rhinos. Tarangire National Park is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in Africa and it’s also home to three rare species of animals—the greater kudu, the fringed-eared oryx, as well as a few ashy starlings.

Day by Day Overview

Our journey will start from Zanzibar Airport in the morning with a flight to Arusha. On arrival, you will meet your driver/guide awaiting you there, ready for an unforgettable Tanzania safari. After a briefing from your tour guide, your safari to Tarangire National Park will start. The park consists of natural vegetation mainly of acacia woodland and giant African baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. Both the river and the swamps act like a magnet for wild animals, during Tanzania’s dry season. The Tarangire National Park is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. Other animals might be seen including zebra, wildebeest, giraffes, dik-dik, impala, eland, grant gazelles, olive baboon and some predators including lions.

We will have a picnic lunch inside Tarangire then continue enjoying the wildlife diversity till evening then start a journey to your hotel for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Overnight stay at Hhando Coffee Lodge

After breakfast in the morning, we will continue with our safari to Ngorongoro Crater. We will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife diversity. The Ngorongoro Crater supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Also, it has a dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and leopards and also the black rhinos which are sometimes difficult to sport. We will enjoy a picnic lunch down the crater and then drive to Arusha Airport and fly back to Zanzibar.
