Tour Overview
This safari takes you to four of the best national parks in Tanzania including the Serengeti National Park, justifiably famous for its huge concentrations of wildlife, especially the big cats, as well as being the stomping ground of the Great Migration, a massive accumulation of 1.5 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebras and 350,000 gazelles stretching their legs over 1,200 miles in an annual race to find enough water and green grass for their survival. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact caldera in an exceptional geographical position, forming a spectacular bowl of about 265 sq. km with sides up to 600m deep. It is home to as many as 20,000 to 30,000 wild animals at any given time. Tarangire National Park is one of the more seasonal parks of Tanzania that boasts of great migratory movement and is a haven for bird lovers. The park also offers stunning scenery with its baobab-dotted landscape and presents a breathtaking concentration of elephants during the dry season.

Day by Day Overview
Our safari adventure starts the moment you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport/ Arusha Airport. You will be met by our staff at the airport and transferred to a hotel in Arusha. Have your briefing with the guides, who will provide the essential information for your safaris. Don’t be afraid to ask your Tanzania guide questions regarding the safari – they will be happy to answer them all.
- Approx. travel time: 1 hour
- Overnight: Mount Meru Hotel
- Meals: Bed & Breakfast
In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel to start your safari to Tarangire National Park. Bush savannah, seasonal swamps and giant baobab trees make up the landscape of this nature reserve and the park is probably one of the best places in East Africa to see elephants. Not only they are found in thousands but also they seem to be more accustomed to the vehicles, and for this you can be closer to these gigantic animals. It is not only the elephants rather a varied numbers of animals such as to Masai giraffes, various gazelles, antelopes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, baboons and more than 500 types of birds make this the one stop solution for both the bird and the animal lovers. After the game drive you will leave the park in the late afternoon and drive to the lodge for your overnight stay.
- Game viewing time: 6 –7 hours
- Overnight: Ngorongoro Oldeani Mountain Lodge
- Meals: Lunch & Dinner
After breakfast we head towards the Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti national park. After your drive around the park, you will be transferred to your lodge where you will be spending the night.
- Game viewing time: 6-7 hours
- Overnight: Lahia Tented Lodge or Kubukubu Tented Lodge
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Optional: If you like to watch wildlife from another perspective, we recommend you to go on a balloon safari. It is an amazing experience to drift silently above the plains with herds of wildlife. The hot-air balloon gently takes you up in the air and floats wherever the morning winds may take you. During the ride you have a stunning and far-reaching view of the great plains of the Serengeti. From here you can spot big herds of wildebeest, giraffes and prides of lion’s right below you. At the right time of year and with a good amount of luck you might even be able to experience the great migration from above.
Following breakfast, you will spend the whole day on a game drive in the Serengeti National Park and have lunch at a picnic spot en-route. Depending upon the time of year, you might even have the chance to witness the great migration with hundred thousands of wildebeests, zebras and Thompson gazelles. During the small rainy season in October and November, you will typically see these herds moving from the Kenyan Masai Mara through the northwest of the Serengeti to the plains in the south. After the great rainy season in April, May and June, the herds slowly travel back through the western and north-western part of the Serengeti. With fluctuations in rainfall, this timetable can of course change, resulting in the animals migrating during different times and routes. Your guide will try his outmost to find the animals and will make sure that you can see them from the best spot in the national park. Naturally, the migration also attracts predators and with luck you might see a kill in action. You will spend your night at the same lodge.
- Game viewing time: 6-7 hours
- Overnight: Lahia Tented Lodge or Kubukubu Tented Lodge
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Dawn is a good time to watch wildlife and so you will be up early to join an early morning game drive. You will return to the camp for breakfast before heading out for another game drive in the park. Here in the Seronera region you will often see wildebeests and zebras in close proximity of lions and other predators such as leopards and cheetahs. After a picnic lunch you will continue your journey towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for overnight.
- Game viewing time: 6-7 hours
- Overnight: Ngorongoro Oldeani Mountain Lodge or Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After an early breakfast you will drive down the steep and narrow road that takes you into the crater. The slopes are forested but soon the landscape changes to savannah. Here the wildlife is just breath-taking and with a little luck you can observe the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard – in just a few hours. You should also see warthogs, wildebeests, zebras, hippos and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. After a morning dedicated to game viewing and a picnic lunch, you will leave the crater in the early afternoon to drive back to Moshi, where you will arrive in the early evening. Later on, will follow the transfer back to Arusha town, or directly to the airport
