Tour Overview

EATL Tours takes you on this amazing Great Migration and Masai Mara River Crossing safari in scenic Tanzania. Regarded as one of the greatest wildlife spectacles in the world, the Serengeti’s annual wildebeest migration is by far one of the most amazing safari experiences one should have the pleasure of experiencing at least once in one’s lifetime. You will witness the mass movement of wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes as they search for greener grazing pastures. This happens from July to October and for the Herds, it is from the end of December to the end of March.

Day by Day Overview

After breakfast, depart to Tarangire National Park. Enjoy a full-day game drive in Tarangire National Park. Tarangire has a diverse landscape, with nine vegetation zones. Ancient Baobab trees (the largest trees in Africa) dot the landscape dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River, which meanders through the park, attracts abundant wildlife, from elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, and antelopes to various colorful birds. The park is very famous for having the greatest elephant population in Tanzania. During a safari there, you will have the chance to observe many families of elephants interacting quietly. With a stop for a picnic lunch in an observatory inside the park where you will be able to view animals drinking water in the river (and many times lions attacking a thirsty zebra or wildebeest), continue game viewing, and finally return to the hotel for dinner and your overnight stay at Manyara Safari Lodge.

Meals

After an early breakfast, depart towards the most famous national park in the world, the Serengeti. The driving itself, although long, is spectacular. You will drive up the crater highlands, stopping at the rim for an out-of-this-world view of Ngorongoro Crater. This will be an unforgettable moment for anyone seeing it for the first time. As you progress well into the Serengeti, you will see why the name means, in the local language, “endless plains”. The park has 6,900sq miles (18,000sq km) and for most of it, the plains will stretch to the horizon defying your senses and perception of distances. It is the home of the great migration and to 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and all kinds of antelopes including the abundant impalas and Thomson’s gazelles. As for big cats and large predators, it’s the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Heritage Camp.

Meals

Enjoy a full day in the Serengeti National Park. We are completely flexible with your preferences and this day will be organized according to your wishes. On every day of the safari, your guide will discuss with you the best timings for you, including the game drives and the wake-up time. For example, on this day, you could do a morning game drive, return to the camp for lunch and relaxation and finish with an afternoon game drive. Alternatively, you could do a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch. Dinner and your overnight stay are at the camp. Serengeti Heritage Camp.

Meals

This morning after breakfast you will have a game drive to the north part of Kogatende to view great migration. In the evening you will have an opportunity to view great migration as wildebeest, and zebras across the river. The river tends to flow all day of August during that time you will count part of the wildebeest herds stock across the river. Dinner and overnight at Dinner and overnight at Mara Migration Camp.
