Mbio Mbio has arranged a safari tour for me to Kenya, which was very bad, disappointed, and even a mess. This is the worst experience I had after visiting nearly 40 countries. David knows little about Kenya and simply relies on his partner and sub-contractor in Nairobi. He could not control his sub-contractor at all. I admit David was responsive and tried to help but that changed nothing.
I paid USD 1,400 for a 6-day mid range safari tour. However I was thrown into a budget tour (the cost of which is half of mine) for first three days. I stayed in a camp rather than a lodge I paid for. The food was not good. Their excuse was that the promised lodge was too far from the others in the group (who were in budget tour) so I needed to join the others for a matter of convenience. But this was not true since there was a similar 4-star lodge just nearby the camp I stayed and two of my group stayed in this lodge actually. Even the excuse was true or the nearby lodge was full, no one told me or asked my consent before departure and I was completely blind until my arrival of the unexpected camp. When this happened, they didn’t offer any refund or compensation at all until I mentioned it on the last day of my trip. This is wholly unacceptable. In short, they cheated me.
They offered a poor car for the tour too. That was so obvious when compared to others in the same camp. Slower, more bumpy, with broken parts. I generally have no particular issue with the car condition. But it was raining on the third day. I sat behind the driver. Rainwater leaked in since the window can not be closed properly and there are cracks on the windscreen. I and my bag got quite wet, let alone all the dust along the road.
Another problem is my connection to Mombasa on the final day. I was misled that I could be transferred directly from Amboseli to Mombasa but it turned out not (I have to go back Nairobi first). To reach Mombasa as early as possible, they offered an alternative plan which was another nightmare. I was suggested to skip morning safari and take a taxi to nearby city Emali by paying additional USD 90 (which was dropped or set off as compensation) and then to get on a bus which comes from Nairobi and heads to Mombasa. The bus arrived 2.5 hours late and took much longer than they told me. I wasted the whole day en route to Mombasa. No time saving and paid more. During the waiting time for bus, the taxi driver even wished to leave me alone on the highway!
Overall the experience with Mbio Mbio was very very very bad and wholly unacceptable. Be cautious.
We went with Mbio Mbio Safaris for our honeymoon and were so happy we chose them. Wennie was amazing to deal with from the start and throughout, very knowledgeable, pointed us in the right direction and gave very useful feedback on the type of itinerary we were hoping to go with.
We absolutely loved the itinerary we did. On top of that, the guide they set us up with Rodrick, was beyond what we could have hoped for in a guide, he enabled us to see all we could have hoped to see and more. He also reiterated our perception of how nice and friendly Tanzanian people are.
If you book with them, it will be one of the best decisions you could make it creating the safari trip if your dreams.
We are a family of 5 and just returned from a memorable safari in Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro, where we've spent 6 days.
Even before the start of the safari, the experience with the safari design was very good, and credits to Jose. Since my first contact, the answers were swift, always very clear and aiming to please our requests. I also found interesting the packages “comfort”, “exclusive”, etc … it’s easy to understand and reflect well the different options.
The Safari was an incredible experience, everything was according to our expectations and went very smooth. A big part due to Edwin, our guide. We’ve seen an unbelievable number of animals 30+ lions, 50+ elephants, 4 cheetahs, 3 leopards, hyenas, giraffes, hundreds of zebras, Thomson's gazelles, wildebeests, etc … … truly remarkable! We’ve found Edwin to be a very talented guide. His knowledge of all animals and Serengeti is absolutely amazing, sounding like a real “encyclopedia”. His relationship skills were fantastic, both with me and my wife, but specially with our kids as he created a friendly mood, that was precisely what we were looking for in our vacation. A big, big thank you to Edwin!
All the accommodations were great, but the ones in the middle of the savannah were amazing - Acacia Luxury Camp, Acacia Migration Camp and Nimali (this last one, superb). The food and beverages were very good and prepared with care. We found all the staff to be super friendly and made us always feel at home - thank you to all of them.
Summing up, it was an incredible experience for all our family and we will definitely recommend Mbio Mbio Safaris.
We had a great 6-day safari with Mbio Mbio Safaris! Our guide Goodluck and private chef Careem were very knowledgeable and taught us so much about Tanzania and the wild! Careem cooked us delicious meals and considered our desire to experience traditional Tanzanian dishes.
I never expected to see so many animals and to learn so much about the African nature. Goodluck always had an answer to every question asked. We could feel that he truly loves nature and his country.
While other groups felt quite uncomfortable with their operator and food served we could not ask for a better guide, chef and tour operator. Our expectations were definitely exceeded!
A special thanks to Mbio Mbio Safaris for the great organisation, Goodluck and the best chef Careem!
Mbio Mbio safaris rocks! We are a family of 5 that went on a 9 day/8 nights (7 full days in the parks) mid-range safari with Mbio Mbio safaris in late February 2023. We went to Tarangire, Serengeti, Ndutu, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara and had an amazing time! We booked directly with Mbio Mbio safaris and the communication was quick and efficient, especially Winnie in the office is doing a fantastic job! Payment was bank transfer via Wise which worked smoothly. Mbio Mbio safaris also arranged accommodation before and after the safari. Our guide/driver Gela was amazing- super calm and relaxed, friendly, experienced, knowledgeable, a great spotter and skilled off-road driver (driving in the mud in Ndutu was seriously challenging - many cars got stuck, but not ours). Make sure to stay at Embalakai Camp in Serengeti, best food on the trip! In summary, highly recommended!
